  1. hi all, just wondered if anyone has ever took a pup from rescue site? I know any pup is a bit of a gamble as good pups can come from poorly bred dogs and poor pups can come from well bred dogs so... if u have reared a pup from a rescue site and they have turned out to be okay or poor please let me know, not just lurchers any dog capable of doing a bit being it run, bush, earth retrieve etc?
  2. fair play, i'm always interested in how dogs are bred, suppose if your happy with her it don't matter how she bred, I don't know the breeding of my own but I'm over the moon with his capabilities and I guess that's all that counts!!
  3. yea she a great looking dog, atb with her, do u know how she bred?
  4. is this a Pharaoh Hound cross?
  5. mint condition, like the dynamics of this cross, intresting
  6. yea sorry, I worded that question wrongly, what I meant was do they get on as companions, like sharing kennel space, showing affection etc ??
  7. do you keep lurchers or any sighthounds? how do they work with your bushers?
  8. cheers wi11ow, deffo going to get a couple of these, not till next summer tho, time to bring on these ferrets 1st!!
  9. I would have 1 or 2 of these if the time was right, 1 step at a time tho!! out of interest will these pups be ok for ferreting?
  10. hi lads, I have recently been looking at purchasing a couple of dogs mainly for bushing with lurchers and rat work. In your opinions which do you rate as all round ability, I don't really want the dogs going to ground. I am particularly interested in patterdales/russles/spaniels, either crossed between them or as pure bred animals?? I really like the sound and look of the Patterdale x Spaniel but have very limited knowledge and experience. In the case of deciding on a cross bred dog, where will I find a reliable breeder as I can't seem to find much on the internet regarding patt/sp
  11. nice dog pal, looks a cracker, atb in future... Well sed Phil Lloyd
  12. usually a single handed job but enjoy a good friends company from time to time. I once went lamping with a couple of marra's who were drunk and it was hellish!!
  13. top dog this 1!! go-on jay evo!!
  14. that 'old' bitch look pristine, what a cracking pair of dogs, congrats on this seasons success. ferrets looking sweet too!!
  15. mine was kept 1/2 house, 1/2 outside so bit of a head start in my case. Built a double skin kennel in yard and he loves it, quite as a mouse, no heat lamp or mat. It is very well cushioned though, and I've lined the whole box/bed with carpet. I also keep a jacket on my dog as his coat isn't that thick. hope this helps ATB Tom Heavy
  16. mine was pretty much the same, got him at 5 month old, wasn't interested in balls, but was interested in small fury stuff, teddy's etc. a rabbit skin dummy would be a good idea. Anyway if you play tug of war with the item, (teddy or whatever) make your dog really want it then try throwing it a short distance, even if its only a few yards, if he chases and picks it up, call your dog back, always encourage your dog, even if it jus chases and picks it up that is still progress. I found that treat training was the most effective method, he would and still does do anything for a treat. Train little
  17. looks a cracker, exactly the cross I am considering for the future years, all the best with him Tom Heavy
  18. the humble beddy x whippet or whippet x grey types
  19. Very interesting topic, I've often thought about this particular cross as in theory it makes the perfect allrounder... collie/whippet x saluki/grey... maybe with a touch of bull or deer or both. I guess though, as long as the dog does the job you want, does it matter how its bred, CONTROVASY !! ATB Tom Heavy
  20. took him to the vet, as I am inexperienced and didn't want my dog ending up worse than he is, the vet was really helpful, she prescribed some anti inflammatory medicine and check him over with movement assessments describing and pointing out as she went. She assured me that his bones were ok as he was quite comfortable whilst under examination. She also recommended that I take him out for up to 6, 5-10 min walks per day for a week. He should make a full recovery within 2 weeks! The check over and prescription only cost £35 so glad I went! At least I'll know what to look for next time round and
