  4. yea there's some deluded dim whit's out there like.... I don't even bother mentioning work to strangers just go along with what ever they have to say, only talk about working dogs to people I can trust. Even if I get asked randomly by a stranger if my dogs work I don't say yes... Totally agree with you when you say rather go to a good pet home than a bad working home, as far as I'm concerned, the more lurchers that get looked after well pet or not the better, they don't half get chucked about as do a lot of dogs, no problem with people keeping them as pets at-all, as long as they sta

  10. Hi all, is it jus me, or why is it...every time I visit the 'vet' do I get the living life patronised out of me... IMO these are 2 novice questions that were asked by 'a professional vet' they are as follows... When was the last time you wormed your dog?? Tried to prescribe some worming tabs... (piss off) How often do you feed it and what do you feed?? (come on, have you seen the amount of muscle on the hounds) its not the 1st time the girl has questioned the health of my hounds, I have tried to explain the breeding of them (saluki) and also their position in the family tree,
  11. prob not the best idea... as a general rule of thumb focus on socialisation/livestock and basic commands such as recall/down/wait etc. Tug games with an dummy/toy/cured skin is time well spent, couple of mins 2/3 times a day, don't over do it, or he will lose interest. Let your dog enjoy its puppyhood. No harm in taking it out with a torch but keep it on the lead and don't slip it or even show it anything. Even if you get all of this right IMO your dog wont be ready to run anything till early next season, I could be wrong either way. Building confidence by using progressive sages are t
