  1. Can be a pain in the arse when they take to bee & wasp scoffing and dangerous too but that pic did make me smile Pinnacle
  2. Do you mean books about..? A book about Gripton would certainly be well worth a read, think Harcombe was going to write one once but maybe it's too late now.
  3. Feck me, ten ton of variables on what is classed as a jacker on here, this is my tuppence worth. First off a yapper ain't a jacker! Seen plenty of dogs that were loud down the beam kill foxes for fun. It can be flustration or over keen BUT as long as the end result is there, it ain't jacked. That bitch in my avatar started off yapping and I remember being told by a chapter writing expert to get shut! Thankfully I got shut of him as a lamping partner and the bitch became the best i've owned. To me a jacker shows its first signs on quarry, showing poor performance in it's killing (thou
  4. Thats you and me both then Goaty... It's flawed but no one has come close... Oh yer, mine lives in the same speck as yours..! its flawed it what respect mate ??? dont think plummer really lied in that book in fact i didnt have him down as an out an out liar just a bit of an arse really but he got a lot of flack Flawed in that to have left out both Gouldy and Brightmoor, at that time, was/is a big mistake. You only have to look at the years after and all written about Smithy's pedigree which could have been cleared up. Brightmoor does get a mention or two in the book but only to say wh
  5. That whole post is spot on and I couldn't agree more with the line i've put in bold.
  6. worst part about this book was that ken gould was left out of it ... Bill Brightmoor too.
  7. Is that what it's all about... then I must have been in the wrong game for the past 30 years..? Mate of mine had a first cross Beddy Grey years back, a very handy mutt to have around a hole but those terrier instincts kicked in after a few years and it would fly to ground as fast as his terriers, would go deep too. Got sick of digging it to the point where it became a fecking nusance and was left at home during the day. He still lamped it, till one night he lost it, went through a wood after sommat & never came back, always had an idea of its fate...
  8. Very very difficult with an adult dog. Firstly, i'd excercise the fecking legs off it as often as possible & give it sommat to occupy it whilst its in there. I'll be honest I don't know much about those anti-bark collars but they can and do work i''m told and if all else fails, shoot it, thats sommat I do have expierience on. Best of luck.
  9. Thats you and me both then Goaty... It's flawed but no one has come close... Oh yer, mine lives in the same speck as yours..!
  10. One and a half lurchers, a canary and two goldfish! (i'm struggling to find enough work for the canary!!)
  11. Think this lad is quality, well worth a watch, music is good too... Enjoy!
  12. Nope, they are in long-term storage, not going anywhere for a good while,no rush, softly softly catchee pristine monkey but you know if you keep repeating the £200 mantra your going to talk yourself subliminaly into purchasing it  Mine is sat next to me on the shelf in mid read you posh b-----d a shelf --- get it finished simo and on ebay could be £300 next week i take it you got the ltd edition without the scatch .. Darcy upset me, the one he sent me didn't have a dent, and i wanted to start one of those pathetic attention type threads to complain I want 'the b
  13. Firstly, good post Snoop. 'Ol Ken does get a bit of stick these days and i'd be the first to agree with Snoop on his speed and the way he does things BUT i've seen the man do so much good for lurcher lads and a local (Ken's mine) bone man is worth his weight in gold. Whenever i've taken dogs to Ken, i've had a fair idea of the problem and let him know to be specific to that area, general stuff too, short striding, poor turning to one side, let the man know and thats what he'll go over. It's never been the case with me to turn up and say 'there you go', at the very least after a hard seas
  14. did he play guitar and wear tighty white shorts with shukklecocks stuffed down em to make the lunch box appear larger...LOL Spot on Vin, anyone else? Cheers, D. Yep, the silent one of the duo and I thought it was the other that was ill...
  15. Simply get yourself a decent Bulldog roundmouth, they do a standard or a smaller rabbity type. You can modify as you wish, steel shaft, foot bed, cut a 'V' back through the blade for roots etc but all comes secondry. A good Bulldog will get you to China if the man has the will behind it and as for cost... What price your dog....?
  16. There are a few but not on here, the only one who was on this site and done a bit was bullterrier but he disappeared.
  17. Met Tony a few times over the years, a very nice chap, and this sad news is real loss to the working terrier world.
  18. Perhaps this is the reason he's both been passed from pillar to post and still up for grabs...
  19. Here's a tale of the Wolfhound cross.. Many years ago we were doin a bit of freelance for the landlord of a pub that may be known to a few who went to The Cup, called The Running Horses. He was doing a nice line in game pie and we supplied the ingredients! Anyways, a nice couple who frequented the pub had a Wolfhound dog and at that time the boozer was well frequented by those 'in the game' and the chance of a coursing puppy came up from one of the lads. They took it, a bonny little bitch, bred in the pink from some very well bred old school coursing hounds that are mentioned frequently on h
  20. Aussie formula is good stuff, as bags go, BUT because of its contents, createne & glucomine, really should only be used if you both work your mutts hard enough and feed predominantly bagged food..! In years past I did use it, though 'combined', with good results but I have no need to feed my dogs it now and thats not because they ain't out enough, belive me, they are! Though I still use raw and bag mix for my mutts diet, Australian is simply too much of a 'high wired' food for everyday use. It does work for them 'sprint merchants' I'm reliably informed, but even if you give
  21. Good write up Stroller. Yep, some days make you wonder why you bother and then some days... You just gotta be in it to win it! Me an Timmyk had a three hour local wander the other night with only two to show for it..
