  1. There is a very good eating house called Master Mcgraths in Scarisbrick near me. The resteraunts 'thiem' is based on the dog and all things coursing, with sporting prints and memoriabilia lining the walls, some of it not to distant too! For those 'in the know' about such matters, there is a blue plaque memorial on the wall as you enter too... A very nice tribute. ... And thats about the only thing I can contribute to this thred...
  2. A well written, honest post Duncan, you keep it up, love hearing that enthusiasm.
  3. Tracks not back open yet a far as i know - its been shut, think the new management are awaiting on the licence to come back should be open soon hopefully. Cheers Chook, I wasn't sure, as I buy my gear direct.
  4. Tiedog there are a few lads that sell dog meat (to dog lads) in the Merseyside area, a damn sight cheaper than you are paying. One of them is based at Westaughton dog track every race day, he can sort all your food. Where abouts are you?
  5. Me too last night Richie! Yep Moll, sometimes things just don't pan out like you hope, the ups and downs of this game eh. I wish your dogs a speedy recovery.
  6. Giro, thats a similar set up to what I used to have and it works a treat. In an 8x6 shed, I based my inside boxes, two, seperate, on the same hight as kitchen work tops, so I could work off it more comfortably and it gave the dogs (mine are usualy 26"+) plenty of room to rise and stretch. With inside doors for easy access.
  7. Wasn't Oxcroft Jack Price's prefix for his Borders? Dont know if he kept white terriers (Russells) but he was a hunting man, so...?
  8. I'd totaly agree, fantastic pic. Good to hear the dogs done well too.
  9. I'm a huge (daft!) EBT fan. Only because I grew up with one and loved the cod headed fool..! He was worked though and worked hard and I even tried to line him with both greyhounds and lurchers, sadly, or maybe not, to no avail... As for which I'd have, if I had to have one... It really don't matter, as long as the parents have seen enough 'real' graft to justify a breeding and thats the way it always should be...!!!!
  10. Nice goin Robert. Skinned phesants, a damn sight better than pluckin 'em...
  11. I'm doin the same.... 21st April 2007.... I'm a youngster...!! Amateur!

  13. Did P Dobbs breed the dog Yes mate and still for sale.
  14. Grew up with a mongrel collie (my Granddads border collie bitch that got nailed by the local garage guard collie type mutt) that could catch rabbits both day and night. Every time we went to the caravan for our hols she would always manage to slip out to hunt and a multitude of critters would turn up at our door, rabbits, hares, pheasants, ducks, chickens and the odd cat! She was no where near fast enough for the hares but could stalk 'em like a feline. Though if you were out with her she would attempt to run everything and very rarely stalked.
  15. Well feck me, we had one when I was younger.... Shite! The thing wouldn't play your record if it even had the slightest scratch. That graphic equalizer just about done feck all for the sound and if anyone put a foot down too heavy anywhere near it, it'd bounce your vinal all over the shop. My bro had it in his room for a few years after I'd moved on and got shut when he couldn't get a replacement needle. Thanks for posting that, brings back some happy memorys.
  16. Reece, do you know TG from the city? I've been told he came back from Ireland with a good hound cross, plenty of lads who have seen it out were very impressed.
  17. Whatever cross you loose, it's always a good time to sit back for a bit, take stock and decide which type is best suited for you, what you hunt and the land on which you walk. All the best with your quest...
  18. I recon in days gone by Poach their may have been but, as with other crosses, the've fell out of fashion. Hunter89 on here bred some handy Pointer crosses, not to a greyhound but his old mans top flight coursing dogs.
  19. Lab, most answers here are right IMO, don't buy a multi gym, there are few people who have the dedication to train from home, far to much day to day stuff gets in the way and if your not totally dedicated you'll find any excuse not to use it, then try to hide it under your clobber, because most of 'em in peoples homes end up as clothes horses, you'd be better off buying a new wardrobe, to keep your clothes off the floor, with the money..!! Tomo's right, you could find a local gym, one that gives free inductions and programmes but both check the small print ( for the term and get-out) and t
  20. Some good answers above but ain't a big fan of retirement myself, never seen a decent old dog yet that would prefer a constant fireside life rather than be in the field. Watched one of mine simply give up and fade away the day I stopped taking her. Fecking sickening looking back, she would have given anything to come but I left her behind... Whats here now will always have a mooch out, no not like they used to but in some capacity, they can run till they drop, or can't run no more and then I know their time has gone and i'll do the right thing by them...
  21. f**k is that 4 real rotted the dogs eye right out? It is for real but it's not rotted the dogs eye out..! The eye was taken out through being pierced by Blackthorn and was stitched (you can still see some). But a flimsy 'lampshade' and a bomb head of a dog with an itchy eye don't mix, so he smashed his head against the kennel and finally got that itch scratched..! It caused the stitches to burst and all that was left was to leave the empty socket to heal, don't look to pretty there but it was always clean and healed very well. with or without the eye bing saved?
