In this day an age that is to be admired mate, i've only bred one. As far as i'm concerned the bitch is as important as the dog, i'd always admire a good bitch over a good dog and there are far more good dogs. So choose wisley, (no offence) but with your years with running dogs behind you, go for your gut not your head, you'll know when something is right, no matter how 'unlikely' that may seem.

My answer to that Gafer is to stick to what you know, getting a 'genuine' first cross animal these days would be hard enough, getting one out of the right stuff, that would throw the right stuff to suit your needs would be a fecking nightmare!

Can't see the vid but Timmyk off here has done the Pamploma bull run, said it was fecking nuts, wasn't the bulls that he feared, more the cance of getting trampled by people!

Think Chalks might know a bit, might have written about the dog too. That would be intresting saw its litter brother run hares a few times in the 80s A mate in the 's had a dog out of WoolyBear, can't remember the bitch. Sonny, the dog was named, an out an out nasty fecker, except with him, would put most bull crosses to shame, that fecker would kill anything with hair on it. Made a name for itself local, it ran and killed the lot, though not always in the best of ways, getting out one day and killing a Doberman in the middle of a busy shopping centre! Sonny was put to an import Salu

do you enjoy watching other dogs as much as your own
Bosun11 replied to hellyer189's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I'm with Charts on this one, good dog work is good dog work no matter what kennel the dog returns to. Of course, the pride and satisfaction of seeing your own dog perform well is a serous high that can't be beaten when your out but if I see a good 'un that ain't mine, at my game, I can only look and learn and try to get to that level with my own. -
Well if someone does write that book Chalks, lets hope he gets a few more than some off the press and give the masses a chance of purchase and digest.

I've only started lamping with two dogs lately, to be honest it's just a local wander with the lamp and take the both. Now even though both dogs lamp off slip normally, it's difficult to keep them both under the tight control I like 'em at and if it wasn't for the fact that I know the ground so well I wouldn't fecking bother, there are far to many possibilitys of sommat going wrong, it's a pain in the arse to me. The simple fact is that if your dog is at the right age to start and you choose your ground, your night and your runs, you can enter a dog easily enough and you don't need any 'he

If you have to kennel these dogs together then you are over dogged, end of..! Your choices are, build extra, seperate housing, get rid of one of the dogs or, sit back and await the concequences... Your choice..??

Paddy, at the same age as yourself I had no idea of what I wanted to do with my life other than work dogs and bed women! At that time I was making decent money and working great hours but faced being booted out of the house for my dodgy dealings. I was eventually told to work or get out, by my old man and I set off unwillingly to look for a job that would suit. Luckily I found sommat, not the best of pay or hours but I liked it, could work my dogs, chase women and went from there. It certainly calmed things at home! Fell into my second job too, as an 'extra' to my first and as things were now

taking the dogs swimming
Bosun11 replied to foxing machine's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
A bit of swimming now and then is fantastic for everyone, man & beast. It's great for both fitness & re-hab. If you have the chance of a pool then snatch it up, I would! More so in the summer months though. -
Enjoyed that.

does anybody work the irish terrier??
Bosun11 replied to BIG G wheton machine's topic in Earthdogs & Working Terriers
Thats it exactly Dev, what one man would call working, is a milloin miles from anothers. I'd take anything like that with a big pinch of salt. As the saying goes 'buyer beware' !!!! -
That all sounds good, the bottom line is, that they learn feck all in a kennel it's only housing, the more you put into 'em the more you'll get out.

Very very well done lads, always impressive...

Who have you met/ helped out or been helped by off here
Bosun11 replied to B.P.R's topic in General Talk
Simoman & Stabba for a good night out in great company, we'll do it again soon! Chart's & Bird, always a pleasure when we meet up at shows. Romany, a very welcome guest at my old house (even if it was to see the shite play!), a font of all knowlage. Stabs & Busher for the pm chat too. Some good mates that I met before but have continued sound friendships with through the site, Strong Stuff, Dazz & Red Collar. My time on here has been a happy one, long may it continue. -
I can't better Asanleys words....

bull greyhound performance/looks your opinions?
Bosun11 replied to CallumDonohoe's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
Callum, your opinion of what a bull greyhound should look like is just that 'your opinion'. Those big headed half crosses that you and some on here dismiss as too heavy & slow might just surprise you. Stabba said it best when asked, because none of those racy types would exsist without 'em! -
Recon you'd be right too Dan but it'd be too big a gamble for me to take a first cross on. Maybe CP's three quarter from silent parents might be worth a punt.
-
Read Simpsons 'Rebecca The Lurcher', that dog is supposedly a Foxhound cross. Recon this cross has been knocking around a bit and would be quite useful but I wouldn't fancy bringing one up only to hear it sing.
