  1. But then you might hit an unlucky event and end up screaming" don't turn the gas on" or " f**k off with that needle". Life experiences can change in a moment. Be careful what you wish for.
  2. Just checked cost of keeping a prisoner in a UK jail per annum: over £48000. Did a quick recky of UK inclusive hotels with activities like snooker archery, use of pool etc: £ 600 per week×52 = £32000. Simples. No point in punishing sad feckers, they will still have the same problems when they come out plus a degree from the university of crime which prisons are.... might as well just give them a break. Plus we don't have to step over them in the street or witness tent cities etc. Common sense. Of course there would be an outcry if it were ever proposed, but it would cut crime a
  3. Most 'losers' in my experience are very thick, as in can hardly read, have had bad luck, are addicted to something, have mental health demons, or had a shit upbringing and usually a combination of all these things. They are classed as 'bad' when in fact they are sad. I don't know what the answer is, but sticking non violent people in jail seems mad to me. Be cheaper to put them up in all inclusive hotels.
  4. No point in me firing back with a counter argument. So best to agree to differ. However, I know dozens of guys who' ve been dealt crap hands right from the get go, and others who've just been dead lucky. As far as the unfortunate go I always think that could have been me had I been dealt a shit hand of cards. I'll give you an example, a friend of mine served his time as a spark, married and started his own business. His two kids both had the same genetic disease and died in their teens. Then his wife, his sister and his mother died within 3 years. He ended up a chain smoker and alcoholic a
  5. Personally, I think you should never condemn anybody until you've walked in their shoes. What happens to you in life is a mixture of choices and luck...good or bad. Some people make poor choices or have no luck at all. "Judge not so that ye be not judged" or summat similar.
  6. Was reading some stats about this years fatal dog casualties in the UK. Six out of the nine deaths were caused by American bullies. Bring in compulsory dog owner insurance, muzzling in public places and a law criminalising the passing on of adult dogs which have shown human aggression: too many psycho dogs end up in unsuspecting households often with children.
  7. I didn't say that he would win against Usyk, I said he can win. There was no way Chishora could win against Fury in what was the most meaningless, cynical fight ever. But Usyk brings far more to the table than most give him credit for.
  8. Usyk can win against Fury if he adopts similar tactics to the ones Sugar Ray Leonard used against Marvin Hagler. Dance, land punches in eye catching flurries near the end of rounds and be super confident in his own strengths. He has every right to be confident in his superb boxing ability. Boxing is the art of hitting without being hit.
  9. There's a BBC Sounds podcast? on the cheapest form of heating. I can't tell you what the conclusion was, I haven't listened myself yet.
  10. You can have my two mate, save you buying a pup. Game, obedient, live in or out. Don't take much feeding or grooming. Downside, one is 14 and a half , and needs to pee three times during the night. Her daughter, 11 and a half has the occasional seizure. She is also the worst jumper I've ever had and often needs stitches. Apart from that they have served me well. Throw in that Staghound of yours and we've got a deal. I'm robbing myself, but for a fellow THL member I'm prepared to do the deal. Meet you around Hexham to,swap?
  11. They are smart. I've noticed they will often follow you on a walk, hoping for food, especially when it's really cold. They are like house sparrows, they've learned to live off us.
  12. Put some apples I'd been storing out for the birds. Within 15 minutes I counted 17 blackies gorging themselves on them. Funny thing was they have ceased hostilities. There's no squabbling at all. They are all just taking on as many calories as they can. A few year back, in a similar cold snap, I noticed 13 Robins sharing the bird feeder. Again, no territory fights, they were all just desperately tucking in.
  13. Scotland was very badly affected by bird flu last year. However the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust continued to feed Whooper swans and other waders as an attraction for visitors. This was madness, the trust was promoting bird flu by deliberately bringing vulnerable birds into close proximity with one another. They should have doing the opposite. They should have fired blank shells to disperse them. Visitors were also walking amongst dead and dying birds. Thus the bug could have been spread on folks footwear. When I pointed out these problems to the trust they ignored me. I guess money via e
  14. Scotty, have you been beamed up or down? One sentence did catch my attention though. I've never been able to understand why the yanks, who let's face it are the planet's supreme dictators, have never just 'appropriated' middle Eastern oil. They could just invade the major oil producers en masse, or one at a time, say thanks very much and control a major part of the world economy. They could easily spin some reason for it as they did in Libya and Iraq. The only reason I can think of is that the major players in America already have a big stake in Middle Eastern oil.
  15. One of my lads took in a long tailed tits nest to show his Biology teacher. He had no idea what it was. He was a good teacher, but my lad had to instruct him on the three different species of UK newt and identified a roadkill ferret which had brought in for identification by the teacher. To be fair, there's a difference between academic biology and being a naturalist/ countryman.
  16. I've got a long-tailed tit nest in my man shed. Brilliant architects.
  17. Magpies and grey squirrels both arrived in my neck of the woods about ten years ago. There used to be 3 keeper's on the nearest estate, there's none now. I reckon the keepers saw them off as soon as they arrived. But now there's nothing to stop them multiplying.
  18. That's a new one on me. Just shows the adaptability and intelligence of covids.
  19. Two mates of mine retired to the sun and after a few years returned to the UK. They genuinely missed the changing seasons. Lots of people fall in love with a place on holiday. But living somewhere hot full time is entirely different from the holiday experience.
  20. The old Glasgow kiss takes some beating as a fight finisher.
  21. Call me a virtue signaller, but I haven't watched a single game. The whole thing is a corrupt farce. The migrant worker death rate is f****n obscene. So in solidarity with them I refuse to watch. The gay rights thing is a side issue for me, the Quataris must make their own laws. But the stench of filthy lucre and the denials about the death rates of workers renders it a no watch for me. Sorry to be holier than thou.
