  1. I tried them a few years back but found that when it got really cold i couldnt stop condesation inside to the point where the bedding was getting soaked.I ended up with so many ventilation holes trying to cure the problem that there was more holes than barrel so went back to wooden boxes. Had the same problems myself, I put a board in the bottom and drilled loads of holes under that to try and let the condensation out but the bedding still got soaked.
  2. I'm using atlas black fluid at the mo, 5 quid for 5 litres.
  3. Good on you redtail that's a belting looking ferret too, good luck with him Rob.
  4. I use both but prefer jills but once big hobs learn the knack of catching and killing they get used sparingly.
  5. Here's a knife I've knocked up free hand with the whizzer. The marks on it are from a crap sharpener, I started this last year and only just got round to sticking it together. Managed to blunt the tip off with a sanding disk on the whizzer too so I'll get that back on. What's the best thing for polishing it up with? Cheers, gnipper
  6. Deffo raw for me, it fecking hums defrosting never mind cooking. Cow tripe too, I can get sheep tripe but the dogs aren't keen.
  7. Potato cake, my missus and all her family call em tottie scones that's how I know. Them square sausage are good too but they should make em bread size for a proper butty.
  8. You can get it for less than a tenner a bale and there's a lot in a bale. Was up there last night getting some stuff off him.
  9. You were lucky there mate, I've never had it happen as I kennel seperate but I've thought about kenneling together in the past and changed my mind when you see subtle signs of friction between them. Just because dogs will work/play together doesn't mean they will sleep together in harmony.
  10. In the wild its because its the quickest way of getting a full gut in a pack scrapping over the kill rather than the flavour that dogs love or perhaps dogs know something we don't and it really is the best food for them? It's dearer than other dog meats round here though so they can sod off if they think their getting it more often.
  11. I'll do you a favour and give you a tenner for it mate save you the hassle of finding a charger
  12. Considering it has such a high water content etc etc its surprising how dogs do bloody well in it and I've yet to see a dog turn its nose up at it. Mine get tripe now and again as I vary the meat / offal they get but when they've had tripe they definitely lick the bowl for longer and keep coming back to check they didn't miss any
  13. It's even better when its not a gundog, my old border (and his dad) showed a few labs etc up on the shoots. He was also fond of throttling black labs in the beaters trailer too Cant see the funny side of that actually, sounds like a f*****g nuisance. I'd be interested in seeing it grab one of mine.............WHALLOP!!... Lighten up you miserable auld skirt wearing barstard;) When they came round squaring up with their hackles up they friggin deserved it, none of my dogs have ever started a fight. There's a few stuck up tw@s on our shoot who's labs I'd like to try and square up to
  14. Coryllus avellana, if your desperate for pegs use it fresh its still hard enough but cut a load extra to season for next year.
  15. Been given a load of these cages off my mate so I'm moving over to all metal, installed a few more today and got the trays underneath for catching the crap. Scrubbing them down and painting them is a pain in the arse but I'll do them when I get time. I'm gonna join 2 together for my muling pairs next year for the finch to get fit.
  16. Pm woodga, his is very good. Everything covered from making to setting.

  18. and what a cracking looking dog she is mate credit to you, i think that is the trick just a small hand full of runs "little and often" as they say as to many pups are ruined by toooo much too quick. what do you mean when you say you've got her hunting up ?? as when i was younger and into lurchers "hunting up" was something undesirable as it ment that they were huntin feet / yards in front of other dogs / guns. I meant hunting up daytime mate, she's going through cover well now and has a good nose.
  19. This pup of mine is ten month and I've got her catching on the lamp, no great numbers just a rabbit or two for the ferts and then home. I've also got her hunting up now which she's not bad at and on her first trip out ferreting she marked and left the ferrets alone. As for how she's doing the fact she's half Brittany and scatty as a squirrel I'm just glad she's catching.
  20. Just read the price and nearly shat my pants, be as well buying top quality meat from the butchers for them prices.
  21. Hope there's some big feck off fields of skunk for him to skip through up there
  22. My mate runs a collie whippet x whippet grey and he would be ideal for what you wanted.
  23. I use the cheap leads too but leave the clip on, hold the clip in my hand and put the loop over a finger ready to release. The reason I leave the clip on is so when walking home I just clip it on like normal and its more secure round roads. I've been thinking of asking a talented nylon stitcher to make me like a watch strap with a D ring on though which would be better I think.
  24. Rock sulfur in their water, job done. A very effective tip from socks
