  1. You are too sensitive, my Mrs was like you , she hated it when I used to call her my ex’s name . ?
  2. The flies are mental here too . It’s the bloody cleggs that get me . I’ve found this stuff to be good . It also keeps the lady’s away . I was on the NGO stand at A country show a couple of years ago and a deer stalker came over and gave me about six tubes , I gave a couple away and now I’m down to my last one . Yesterday was too hot for me . I stayed at home and sat in the shade moaning about how hot it was and how I would never moan about cold weather again .
  3. Foxes are a wild creature who have evolved as a predator/ scavenger . Problems arise when they encounter a food source in an unnatural environment, such as a hen house or pheasant pen . They encounter an unnatural quantity of prey with little or no ability to escape. The result is what we see as wanton vandalism and needless killing. We can’t put our own values on to a wild animal, it’s only acting on instinct. Whenever I’ve encountered large scale killing you can see some attempts made at burying bodies and concealing under tree roots etc . They will always be back later . They are simply kil
  4. I think In the states 5-6llb trigger pulls are the norm on hunting rifles . I have picked up the Tikka and Wierauch and can honestly say they have got the triggers perfect , with the Wierauch being in my opinion the best I’ve tried .
  5. I would seriously take a look at a Tikka or a Wierauch, both have excellent triggers . I see you were a keen air gun enthusiast, you boys spend loads on your set ups , so money won’t be an object ??
  6. I tend to look at it this way . I don’t like killing foxes when they’ve got litters of cubs . Because if you kill a milky vixen then unless you can find the earth and deal with the cubs they will starve. But if they are doing damage and killing livestock, then they should be dealt with and every effort should be made to find and destroy the litter. Personally I start on them when they are “on top” and starting to hunt independently, mousing etc . But I try to get the parents first , because the cubs are easier to deal with . None of us I’m sure take “pleasure “ in the killing of any creature,
  7. Room temperature and out off a horn cup is the proper way to drink it . I wouldn’t of thought those old guys could remember what a solid shit was !?
  8. There used to be a proper cider house in Gloucester , “the county arms “ it only did cider , I went in there as a youngster and said “what beer have you got “? “Beers for queers “ said old lady Cocker (landlady ) “have a black and natch”.It was a real spit and sawdust sort of place , full of real characters, you don’t get that anymore. It’s all changed into chain pubs doing food or kids lining up shots .
  9. But what about the trees man , all those trees cut down so you can have a stock for your rifle !! Boomshanka
  10. Yes I knew that , I also read that you were looking at a new 223 for your club . I didn’t want to be totally dismissive of a gun that I haven’t had any personal experience of . It’s Japanese built , so they make good products. I have however had a Weatherby Vanguard in .243 and it wasn’t good , they are made in the same factory, and you couldn’t give me one . The barrel was bedded into a soft plastic stock ? I even got a Timney aftermarket trigger , because the original was lousy . I took the stock off and cut it back so the barrel was floating and it tightened the groups up a bit . But overa
  11. Wow , that’s a beast. I’d be interested to hear a bit more about Howa . If they make rifles like they do cars , they should be good .
  12. Tea and hobnobs , that’s not very tactical? I thought you would be tucking into a 24 hr ration pack or some US MRE . ??
  13. As above , but I know how you feel . I don’t like killing cubs .
  14. Try looking for a Timney , they cover most of the heavy American market models . Can’t think who else would do them . ATB
  15. Have a look at the Sauer 100 , they do this rifle in a “keeper package “ in 223 . These are great rifles . The barrels are made in the same factory as Blaser , I think Mauser are as well . I’ve looked at this rifle and it’s really nice , the trigger is spot on and it has a great 3 point safety. But if Money isn’t an issue what about a Blaser ? Here’s another that I’m looking at the Sauer Pantera , that is a really nice rifle for longer range shooting. As others have posted Tikka take some beating and i have one in 223 and it shoots tight groups and the bolt is smooth and the trigger is good
  16. I thought it was something like that . It would take years to make a set up like that viable for 12.5 thousand birds . Bosses like that are out there . It’s a good way for some bosses to lose money instead of giving it to HMRC .?
  17. You could try the fresh and saltwater fishing forum . There is also a hunting video clip section.
  18. That’s brilliant, it’s something I’m interested in . I plan on getting a small boat on a trailer , but I have a healthy respect for the sea , and I don’t know much about , tides / currents etc . I will definitely have a look . ?
  19. There has been some serious investment in that set up . Have you guys signed up to the BGA ?
  20. I’ve always encouraged the young ones too . The beaters used to bring their kids along and it was like a family day out , with a pay packet at the end of the day . They start off being more of a hindrance, getting stuck / lost in maize covers , but the years soon pass and before you know it they become valuable experienced beaters . And most are now grown up leading productive lives , one has even been signed to play rugby for Gloucester.
  21. Had a mate who couldn’t eat anything spicy “foreign muck” . A big gang of us used to go out , and at the end of the night fall into an Indian . He used to come along all the same and do the restaurants head in asking for “proper food “ , we’d all be eating our curry’s and he’d have something like an omelette. Couldn’t get my head around it , curry’s taste good !!!!
  22. Nice evening out , and like you said , better than Corrie ?
  23. Welcome to the forum pal . Enjoyed the video , look forward to watching some more , I’ve subscribed.?
  24. Good write up Ian , and a good result. Had a similar thing happen to me the other night . I missed an easy cub . I wasn’t sure if an earlier knock on the scope had affected zero , so I found a safe rabbit at about 70 meters and missed that . Convinced I’d knocked the scope I went home . Went to sort it out the next day on a paper target and it was bang on ???? I tend to have nights like that and it’s all my fault . Sometimes I’m just tired and for whatever reason can’t hit a barn door . I’ve got a routine I subconsciously run through before taking a shot , it involves breathing and cheek and
