  1. Can’t fault the way it shoots ...... but , us boys and our toys ?
  2. I know , it’s had hard life . I’d like a shiny new one . If I’m a good boy , and I behave myself, Father Christmas might put one in my stocking.
  3. He’s fobbing you off . They do a resurfacing on younger patients, this then allows them to do a proper hip replacement at a later date when it wares out , but they reckon they are good for 20 years. No one should have to put up with pain . But then there’s pain and then there is discomfort? When I had mine done I could hardly walk , and I had to pluck up courage to walk a few steps . Only you know your own body , if you can put up with it , then it’s up to you .
  4. The problem is you are only going to transfer your weight on to another joint , and put more stress on that . I put up with ciatica for years , but my limping around just wore my hip out , my advice is get it sorted , before you build up more problems. ATB
  5. I’m 53 and had a hip resurfacing at 48 instead of a replacement. The theory is that for someone a bit younger they will last about 20 years and then you have a replacement . They get you up and about the day after your op and you are mobile fairly quickly. If you are in a lot of pain like I was it’s amazing, I have always been active and I suppose, years of building work and strenuous lifting had taken its toll. Had mine done NHS and can’t fault their treatment, they were fantastic. If you are having one , ask if it’s ceramic, mines metal and I have to get my blood checked to see if there is m
  6. Medieval , backward f@@kers !!
  7. Why not send Diane Abbot out to scare them , she’s make me turn the other way that’s for certain. And then put a few rounds in her inflatable.
  8. While I see where you are coming from , I don’t think our lads in the navy joined up to blow civilians, maybe women and children out of the water . We just need to stop being seen as this “honey pot”. They aren’t refugees, they stopped being refugees when they left the first safe country they fled to . They are economic migrants. We need to be less attractive than France, that’s all , simple, no gun boats or missiles , just common sense policies.
  9. Cheers pal , I will . The Mrs is starting to feel single ? . Interesting about your woodcock. You are right in your approach to them . If a gun wants to and it’s a sporting shot and he’s going to eat it , then it’s fine . Despite what the RSPB are saying, it’s my experience that the numbers are increasing. I also think that the numbers shot would have no impact on their overall population. A lot of shoots I think wrongly have a no woodcock rule . Maybe a bit of “virtue signaling “ or more likely they don’t want the gun to shoot a woodcock and miss out on a £45+ VAT pheasant. I’ve taken woodcoc
  10. Don’t antique experts call it “patina” ??
  11. I was out again last night and only saw one on the cut silage . It didn’t hang around, I spotted it’s head above the turned grass through my thermal , as it mooched about . I got the rifle into place and the second I put the IR on it made off for the hedge like a Jamaican sprinter. I followed it with my scope hoping that it would do the usual look back at the hedge , but not long enough to get a shot off . I did notice that it was bloody cold last night and very still and quiet. Having a night off tonight . Good to be out though isn’t it , better than watching the TV ? . I’d love to see those
  12. I’ve been thinking the same thing sausage, my BRNO 22lr has been my constant companion for the last 12 years . I bought it used but in excellent condition and it’s been well and truly “used and abused “ . It’s been dropped, run over by a quad , left out in the rain , you name it . It’s a bit like the Top gear Hilux , I’ve tried to kill it but it won’t die . I’m toying with the idea of a new 22lr , I looked at the Wierauch with its thumb hole stock and superb trigger. I’ve also looked at the new Tikka . I have to be realistic and the Wierauch is too pretty, I think that the tikka will be the on
  13. I just go for the trophy Romaine, unfortunately I don’t eat them , it’s a devicive subject I know, it’s the taking of a lettuce, and it not going into the food chain , I know some may find morally reprehensible.
  14. I’ll bare that in mind , I’m out again tonight, I saw a little gem near it’s earth , it’s going in a salad .
  15. I reckon I take about 100 foxes a year , sometimes more sometimes less . But I never see them all piled up together. When you see that amount of fur on the ground it makes you realise the amount of protein they must take from the local wildlife .
  16. That’s the best write up I’ve read on here . Fantastic hunting mate .... respect
  17. Me too mate . The ones I’ve been seeing are more or less able to fend for themselves. However they will have been having food brought for them by the adults. I will be concentrating my efforts around that old orchard now and hopefully get them .
  18. Just been back to look for the fox that made it to the hedge. Couldn’t find it and believe me I tried . I walked up and down the hedge and scoured the bottom of it .... nothing . I crawled through a gap to be greeted by ( I’m 6.2”) nettles up to my chin . I climbed a dead tree and looked for flattened areas to check, but they just turned out to be deer seats . I did however find the whereabouts of a litter of cubs , who are I believe now orphaned. So , as they say ....”every cloud “!!
  19. I don’t tend to do much on foot , apart from the chicken farm . So it’s nice to have everything organised now , hopefully my days of gear falling off the seat and rolling around the footwell are over .?
  20. N135 and sierra 1320 semi points. I have used the “quiver critter “ and it seems to work on cubs . Their natural curiosity I suppose, weather or not it would have worked on them with just the caller I will never know . Maybe these things are as much about attracting the shooter with too much money and not enough sense ?
  21. The new bag arrived this morning, amazing, I only ordered it on Friday , that’s Amazon for you . It’s called a Nighthawk hunting bag , first impression is it’s not very good quality, about the same sort of quality as Jack Pike stuff . I normally get stuff that will last, but this is just going to sit on the passenger seat . I’m going to stick some Velcro on the bottom to stop it sliding off the seat . I’m also going to cut some hardboard to make the bottom rigid . I like the pockets and size though. In case you are wondering I wear plastic gloves when I pick up dead foxes now as I can’t stand
  22. I’ve seen one clutch , but it didn’t last long , everyday their numbers dwindled . I think it’s a combination of poor parenting and too many corvids having a go . Still time to see some more though it’s still early . Another problem I find is cock birds bothering and trying to tread the hen when she leaves the nest to feed .
  23. We have just had the 2nd silage cut here, and it’s for me a good chance to get around the shoot and start to make a dent in the fox population. I’ve been finding litters and doing my best to deal with them . I’ve had a go with the terriers and been trapping, but now the gloves are off and I will now be nocturnal for a while. I have decided that with all the kit I take with me for a nights foxing I needed a special bag to put my binoculars, thermal spotter , bullets , torch , latex gloves etc . Instead of them rolling around the seat and taking me two or three trips to load up and unload the tr
  24. Like has been said , contact the tax office and get a UTR that’s your unique tax reference number . The company may want to stop your tax @20% cis that’s ok . You can get a decent rebate, save all your receipts for boots clothing fuel , tools . If not then you can always fill in an online tax return or get an accountant to do it for you . It may cost a bit but in my experience it’s worth it , as I find it too difficult and stressful to do myself. A good way of doing it is to get an envelope for every month with your receipts in , get a diary to show the days worked . Put it in a folder , and t
