  1. Coming on a handy dog ,gets the lurchers on their toes better than anything
  2. Have thought about it but the dog needs to have health checks as though you are importing it,so wonder the problems you'd have r.e. customs ,also honesty is what I'd worry about with SOME dogmen the other side of the world,
  3. While in it self that wouldn't be a problem, but the sheer amount of people who come in and out of the game, and leave 3 or 4 litters of "their line" behind beggars belief . I'm breeding a litter myself but honestly think the result will have every chance of making good lurchers And am being picky where they go,think that also can be a problem especially With bull type lurchers
  4. While I see where people are coming from r.e money and breeding lurchers,I can't See ,if you bring them up right, with good food Wormers extra food for the bitch stud fees ,etc etc where it can be a money making exercise,if sold for £150-£200 there shouldn't be much or any profit.May just about lucky to break even if you keep one. I think the problem is,lads just getting in the game are impressed by one of the few dogs they see,and feel the need to breed, when I was looking for a pup the majority of the parents were under 4 year old with many being 2 or 3....one that sticks in my mind was 1
  5. Think there's a fair few working breeds that I'd rank above the Doberman ,for a lurcher mix, most being Shepherd type dogs,
  6. Thats a nice bitch,always liked it.
  7. My bitch took one at a young age (8 months) slipped her on an easy rabbit, Jumped a fence and bumped in one done fine on it ,but I wouldn't recommend it as it could have all come wrong if she had a nasty bite.she was great on them afterwards bit kept her off anything after until she was more than ready
  8. Can't see why it would be any different Same genes going into the mix ,the genes don't know its been a repeat mating.
  9. The can be sprayed in the eyes ,or cattle prodded out of action ,then they are of no use,but even if they do bite you most probably get the pull off plod, Just in this day of age they are a liability, for MOST people,if I lived in a remote rural area then maybe, but when you have a property where postmen ,neighbours, children ,knocking on the door,I'd rather leave it but if you feel you need one crack on
  10. Champion working lurchers no less, Intriguing, what working championship did they win Hands up if you are on here lol
  11. Think most you will see will be exaggerated show stuff And can't run for toffee there's a few running lures in YouTube all legs
  12. Try and get a pic up Qb sounds a cracker, and you sound like you've Put the work in training and putting stuff in front of him,ATB Roy
  13. Determind crooks WILL get past a dog, May stop casual thieves, but get cctv alarms locks,a lot cheaper in the long run, plus they won't get you in trouble for doing their job, my brother had an American bulldog ,they stood on the fence opened the gate ,dog run out they jumped over fence, dog locked out, barking Looking confused. Most can't give a real guard the training or stimulation they need And end up with tragedies we read about Unless I was in an isloted location I wouldn't go there again
  14. A dog will jib/Jack because of lots of reasons but all of them will be linked with not having heart .what I mean some dogs would rather die than Jack some would run themselves to a stand still. But some Will Jack because they 'think' they won't catch their quarry . Big difference ,each to there own.
  15. Some may die trying..... Some might run until they are going walking pace but not Jack.... Some will Jack.
  16. Agreed nice animals and my next pup will be just that don't know if it's the new "craze" to be fair I think a little bull blood goes a long way ,and won't hurt as long as your dog isn't a specialist on really fast winter rabbits
  17. Nothing new in that cross, is there? Been about nearly as long as the bull cross
  18. Done the yard dog thing, won't go there again. Nearly killed a pregnant terrier and killed a young promising terrier ,one way walk,in the end Shit machines.
  19. Now there's a plan its just finding a coursing dog that is bigger the most bull x;s lolol..they are out there ..
  20. That's fair enough, genuine pest control .But there's pest control and summer hunting killing young hares and rabbits, not very sporting or productive for next season .
  21. I'm sure most dogs don't NEED to be running game year round ,rest tired muscles and tendons will pay dividends for next season.bring young dogs on on a few green rabbits but that's it .no need for it IMHO. No one's saying they have to stay kennelled
