I think if the breeding and heart is there they will go shh,it will be you that need to show some restraint,easy to slip,but can't unslip,that's what will make or break the dog. -
of course any dog can bite,but if a dog bites and maimes a child pts full stop,no ifs no buts,pts most stable dogs would give warning of their aggression,a growl,or mouth the child,but if a child's face needs surgery,I think it kind of oversteps the mark somewhat

Like I said in my post I agree a parent should take SOME responsibility. But if a dog is likely to bite,maybe he shouldn't take a dog into those situations.if my dog bit a child regardless if they was a brat or not I'd put to sleep unless the dog was being constantly teased or there was other mitigating circumstances. But if someone walks a dog that bites publicly,he has to man up and face the music.

Whilst I agree the parent should be responsible for the child ,I think dog owner have to take some responsibility if there dog bites a kids face in a public place. My niece got bit the weekend and part of her nose was ripped off and skin grafts have had to be done.the dog,a shar pei has been pts, I think muzzling a dog that's damaged a child's face is not a lot to ask. And he should be thankful the dog hasn't been destroyed,or he wasn't filled in by the lads dad,lol

The reason I asked.if it was permission is.it could havee chased a rabbit and accidentally put a hare up,failing that was it a footpath and the collar came off the dog.
