Like the UK the Irish tv stations and media source most of their extravagant TV presenters from Theatres, panto and largely liberal universities ( which most are). You would be surprised, most Irish people agree with trump and are anti immigration. The fact that Ireland stays in the EU and won't support brexit has nothing got to do with immigration. Even if the Irish are Brussels lap dogs the fact is they will take that every time rather than be England's lapdog (They were that for long enough) even if it costs the economy and let's in a few migrants.It's just pure stubborn that's all. I think the fact it's a young team with no baggage is helping. The uk media aren't pissing on their backs this time and digging up dirt on the players and also the fans aren't turning against them (yet). It takes a lot of pressure off of them and they have as good a chance as anyone to win it out. England always had good players but they were just threw into the cauldron and devoured by their own. Gaelic football ( amateur game ) 20 years ago used to be about speed, skill and accuracy and been clever about the game. Gaelic football today is about size , strength , cardio and their fitness levels and strength are as good as any pro sport at the top level. It was a super end to end game to watch back then! Now you see players ( under massive pressure )and both teams play blanket defences and suffocate your opponent while covering massive amounts of ground to stop them scoring but the fundamental thing is they forget how to enjoy and play the game with a smile. It might help England in the world cup years if they are not going in suffering from fatigue. I don't think it will matter to the Irish as much as they won't have a strong enough squad to win anyway. Plenty of heart but not enough talent. England had enough talent the last few decades to win more than 1 World Cup in 52 years.
