  1. Sadly not they both went too old age then about the time they passed I got wife and kids and only now 20 years later am I getting back into field sports. Got few ferrets and pet cocker at the moment. Rented house only allowed one dog I think when he passes away I will be after a nice little terrier. Miss having a working dog
  2. Few pictures of mine pre ban great happy days wish I could take the clock back Have tess and moses having rag of a dead fox after a good dig Tess soft as any thing around the yard wouldn't hurt a fly but in the field she transformed Tess Tess thinking you took ya bloody time Moses having a rag Moses Moses baying
  3. Yea joined too nice too see some thing worth looking at on the place
  4. Used too be good money in the forestry tree felling and short wooding if you were prepared too go for it. But it could be a bloody slog at times
  5. Yep the one in my picture made it too 18 + and backend went too. Dam good age
  6. Dam good day that. Rabbits do seem too like railway banks
  7. Brilliant day and bringing on a young terrier pup and a ferret that's my idea of heaven. The JR will soon get the hang of it and the penny will drop whats required Great stuff oh and welcome by the way
  8. Lol yea I see what you mean there but a terrier could do that job. My point is a good bushing marking dog would be my priority and catching bolters and net slippers a low second. Horse before the cart and all that But that is just my opinion there is no right and wrong so long as your happy who cares I have neither at the moment just pet cocker spaniel who is a food obsessed over excitable nutter but we love the git anyway
  9. For me personally in this neck of the woods I would want a good busher and marker that would be far more important than catching bolting rabbits I would be happy with a dachund if it did that job well I have nets for the bolting rabbits part
  10. I could count mine on one hand with the ferrets tough going too say the least
  11. fingers crossed a happy ending would be nice
  12. That is some haul the dogs showed some grit too keep going. What did you do with them all ?
  13. My 3 tier came yesterday. It is ideal especially for a long day when don't want your ferrets jammed in a small box. My two jills fit in the top nice and more importantly my hob has plenty of room in the middle and that leaves the bottom free for nets or another ferret or two. It is not bulky and feels comfortable too carry and also well made with some good quality bits such as clip together carry strap and adjusters
  14. My little bedlington whippet used too do that but it would often put rabbits in the bag. When a rabbit hits a hedge and it is off course the dog would often nab it. But then I know what you mean you don't really want a dog storming a hundred yards through a hedge on mission impossible making a racket when there is lamping too be done. Swings and round abouts I guess
  15. Stick me in the que please I have sent pm you never know

  19. Also have a nose at this http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01nhc4w Clarissa gives few ideas
  20. Third post down stuffed rabbit very nice
  21. Yea but its annoying as f.ck when you have a rabbit sat miles from its burrow and the dog trots after it Perhaps the dog is tip toeing so its quieter. One of my dogs used too do that until it thought it was time too charge but I guess quite a few do. It was nice too see the dog really thinking about it
  22. My old jr was a stocky big chap but he never failed too get up to a fox. We used too dig regular so he had plenty of work. He was a grafter though with a big heart
  23. The last dog, is a collie x greyhound (3/8 5/8), and probably the best ferreting dog i have seen. She is eight. The black dog is 100 % whippet (well, as 100% as any of the strong working whippets are), but i big, strong lad. He's two and a half and shaping into a good ferreting dog, although he works best 1:1, and is an excellent mooching dog. The other two are a collie/whippet/grey (blueish brindle) and a line bred collie/grey x collie/grey (etc) (red brindle). and can't forget the little dogs! Russel type terrier, great for covering holes in thick cover etc. Lov
  24. I split them straight away mate. Seperate kennel and runs now Good stuff sounds like your mrs would kill you if any thing happened
