  1. Also have a nose at this http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01nhc4w Clarissa gives few ideas
  2. Third post down stuffed rabbit very nice
  3. Yea but its annoying as f.ck when you have a rabbit sat miles from its burrow and the dog trots after it Perhaps the dog is tip toeing so its quieter. One of my dogs used too do that until it thought it was time too charge but I guess quite a few do. It was nice too see the dog really thinking about it
  4. My old jr was a stocky big chap but he never failed too get up to a fox. We used too dig regular so he had plenty of work. He was a grafter though with a big heart
  5. The last dog, is a collie x greyhound (3/8 5/8), and probably the best ferreting dog i have seen. She is eight. The black dog is 100 % whippet (well, as 100% as any of the strong working whippets are), but i big, strong lad. He's two and a half and shaping into a good ferreting dog, although he works best 1:1, and is an excellent mooching dog. The other two are a collie/whippet/grey (blueish brindle) and a line bred collie/grey x collie/grey (etc) (red brindle). and can't forget the little dogs! Russel type terrier, great for covering holes in thick cover etc. Lov
  6. I split them straight away mate. Seperate kennel and runs now Good stuff sounds like your mrs would kill you if any thing happened
  7. Reminds me of my cousins dog tess when we were kids cracking little worker too. She looks great bow and all. Bit of a worry your lurcher laying into her though that could end badly
  8. Sounds like it has worked out well for the both of you
  9. Not sure about the wrong path I have 3 daughters 2 are the right path and 1 on the wrong. If that is the way they want too go there is not a lot you can do. Beleave me we have tried. Geese

Hi I notice on one of my permissions which consists of stubble fresh plough and grass it is being visited by quite a few geese. I all ways associated them with estuaries and I was quite surprised too see them. If I wanted too try and bag one any tips for me ? I am not sure if there is any pattern too there visits or if they prefer the stubble or plough. Not sure if creeping up on them would be an option or maybe get a couple of decoys and hope they fly over. Don't want too spend much dosh encase they go too never be seen again
  13. lol doubt it was the squirrel. To quote the wild food company Squirrel Meat It's low in fat, low in food miles and completely free range. In fact, some claim that Sciurus carolinensis - the grey squirrel - is about as ethical a dish as it is possible to serve on a dinner plate. It taste is something between duck and lamb. 'It's moist and sweet because, basically, its diet has been berries and nuts' Saying that I did read else where they will sample a bit of carrion if needs be but we will gloss over that
  14. Yes it is free and here is the direct link http://stevengould.org/downloads/cleanup/CleanUp452.exe click run or open when prompted. and follow the prompts it will ask for a donation at the end but you can say no
  15. At the end of the day no amount of complaining will change any ones attitude. They won't suddenly start back filling just because of a thread on a forum from people they don't know. Would like too think that hearing a dog has been injured and could have been killed would change there ways but doubt it. As said above maybe they had too leave in a hurry

  17. yea my hob kept getting caught up today then he starts struggling trying too get lose bit worried it might start him shying back from coming out. Mind you I did noticed he started holding back until I lifted the net if I saw him in time
  18. marking and putting them too ground would be good but I suspect I am asking too much. But no harm in trying and he enjoys the outing as do I
  19. Early days yet. My young hob weren't that fussed last year but when I saw a rabbit go too ground I placed him by the hole and went down like rocket and rabbit out. Amazing how a ferret instinctively knows what do as a rule anyway. Maybe there was nothing at home and no scent
  20. Tried a wood this morning that does not have a great deal of cover. I had four from there last year. I decided too deploy my secret weapon the wifes 6 year old pet cocker. Been getting him used too ferrets and sheep over the summer. Tried a few holes but nothing at home. I did see a couple of rabbits break cover. The dog caught there scent and started zig zagging about little stump going but he couldn't seem too join the dots. I would have thought it an ideal spot with small clumps of broken cover but it was not too be. II did hope too bolt one infront of him as he is a quick learner. But
  21. great write up and pictures must be heaven too work that sort of ground well worth the travel. I couldnt even find a hole too try this morning load of rabbits all disappearing into neck deep gorse though
  22. I was thinking that saw hugh cook them last night there on my todo
  23. Sounds like the dog was afraid of getting a clout when she tried too drag him out so snapped at her out of fear
  24. Do what joe said like this it worked for all 3 of mine much too my surprise and my white jill as a rule keeps still for nothing
  25. That was the make up of my best dog he took rabbit, hare and fox and was working his way up the ladder. Bright fast and lovable with great character. Sadly took a tumble one night and had too be put too sleep
