  1. Don't be coy about it no need to beat around the bush no not that bush
  2. My tommy from this to this 7 months then unfortunately to this but there will be a forth of him in fine fettle in the future
  3. Making sure its ok around sheep, cows and horses and any thing else not on menu really ? oh and obviously ferrets but I would imagine you are on that one I forgot cats as well
  4. crack on with stock training if you haven't all ready
  5. Never keep them puppies in sort of ties up with the breast feeding thread lol
  6. Terry, try some carrots kept in sand. Dry the sand off in the summer box it and put it in the shed then just lay the carrots not touching in a layer of sand and cover and repeat till the box is full. More taste when you take them out than frozen carrots. The same can be done with beetroot and parsnip. TC I will give that a try Allan. I have got a few beets in the shed in compost which I have not checked as an experiment . Sand sounds a good plan plus the council are all ways leaving bags of it laying around
  7. Well I cocked up on the carrots never got around to protecting them so the rot seems to have set in quite bad Dug most up salvaged as much as we can or the wife did rather and got them frozen. Next year I will get them frozen down before the weather gets bad
  8. nice cheap one to get your started http://tinyurl.com/m58qavw
  9. Long netting can be very efficient and you can do a lot with even a little 25 yarder traditional put in the right place and a few free hazel pegs so not massive outlay. You don't have to have a place heaving with rabbits either if your happy for just one or two rabbits at the end of the night. There is so much more too it than catching rabbits as well. Strolling around in the dark with a net in your pocket and maybe a rabbit or two to take home with every one being completely unaware of your presence is quite a feeling
  10. It was quite simple really I had one as a young lad and he suited me fine and a pleasure to own so I went for the same again. But to my way of thinking for a ferreting marking is the be all and end all and the ability to work thick cover and follow a line to get the bunny to ground. So if ferreting is your thing you can't rule out a bushing type like you will see in the bushing section
  11. makes me hands sweat looking at that I can't handle heights
  12. I had that choice to make early this year and I went for a lurcher to lurcher who is going to make 24-25 inch. Can't fault him really for temperament and hunting instinct but I do feel a bit over gunned as I just wanted a marking dog really so in hind site a little bushing terrier cross would have been more suitable maybe. But I wouldn't change him now I have him
  13. Very sorry to hear that sad but of all the ways to go thats got to be one of the better ones. Out of the blue painless and quick hope I go like that. Not that it is any consolation to you
  14. At the end of the day you have zero control just got to sit back and cross your fingers. One of my daughters don't put a foot wrong got cracking tidy boy friend and one well what a nutter lol. I gave up worrying a long time ago just grin and bare it now a days for a peaceful life until she hits 18 then she will be shown the door unless she wises up
  15. Some shite luck going about for sure. But at least your vets diagnosis sounds precise which is reassuring. Hopefully a full recovery will be had. Also depends how hard you plan to work the dog in the future too I guess for me pottering around with the ferrets would suffice rather than hard nights lamping
  16. did they not spot the rubbing dueing the weekly regular checks ? as a comparison my vet charged around 200 for an xray and bandage on my pups strained hock which included bandage changes weekly until they came off
  17. Very nice John good stems on them leeks and them onions look good better than my marbles and you got the cleanest chickens in town The wife frowned on my chicken idea so that's dead in the water for the time being lol

  19. Thats what I am thinking compared to fruit which costs a small fortune to buy at least in tesco
  20. ah the video is here they did seem ok if a bit wobbly
  21. In two minds about main crop spuds next year now bought a bag at the week end for a fiver at the local market. Desiree and a cracking spud. Might just do earlies and some sharp express Might be better off using the extra space for fruit maybe

Nice couple of hours up the plot this morning get out the way of stroppy teen agers Decided to collect leaves going to mulch me black currants with a good foot or two keep the grass at bay going to do the same with the new raspberry bed broad beans are starting to sturdy up a bit and keep up right really need to turn over the compost heap next time I feel energetic Nearly called out the Fell and Moorland to get this bugger out the ground. Turned out it had forked in the end but it was a big fork few pics
  23. makes me cringe like a picture that came up on facebook the other day of a pile of skinned dogs some apparently still alive, heart breaking. Nothing wrong with killing things to eat but at least be humane about it
  24. quite some thing and over her some people have a panic attack at a dog chasing a hare . If you started hacking a cows head off probably get shot. The difference in cultures and beliefs is pretty amazing
