  1. Certainly get on with the stock training I have put tons of time into mine with stock but if I had the time over again I would put even more into it though he is coming nice now. A cracking dog thats going to grab a sheep when it goes round the corner is not that cracking and very very stressful
  2. The thing I learnt last year is there is no panic to get out of the blocks stuff planted when the weather is right soon over takes any that as been struggling due to going in too soon. But from what I read onions need as long as possible from seed. Mine will have to from window sill to cold frame so bit hesitant to get them sown yet
  3. I did start ones off using aldi normal ones on the window sill they looked good then started to get spots on the leaves may have been over crowding but when I planted them out they just never budged and died. May have just been the wrong variety for this climate Cheers Allan I will do
  4. Picked some veg for the father in law today still got loads of parsnips, leeks and sprouts so need to give some away . Also swedes but on the tennis ball size ones now need to tidy the shed when I get a minute. A couple of rats took up residence under it but they are no longer with us hung up a couple sticks too so I can try my hand at the stick making lark

    Too Windy?

After thinking about I think I would prefer a night that was too quiet at least you can adjust maybe be a bit more stealthy or pick a drop thats more suitable where as if its blowing a gale there is not a great deal you can do. It can get pretty annoying wrestling with a net that you can't do a lot with. The wind can be an evil sod to I remember when I used to fell trees and some days you had to fell into the wind to get them tip first. The wind would die right down as you prepped the tree then the very second you made the back cut as the tree would be in the balance it pick right up and blow
  6. Mine has a similar injury to the rear leg and I am heading for 3 months in and still months to go I reckon. His been lead only and it vital I keep a a tight rein on him and any mad rushing about or jumping knocks him back. I think I am slowly getting the better of it but its not easy on him being a young dog and missing out on every thing he just wants to run the poor bugger. Fingers crossed yours is not serious and makes a good recovery but rest and more rest seems to be the key
  7. Excellent clips really enjoyed them Cracking pair you got there lovely to watch what camera by the way ?
  8. I don't know much about any thing but with my pup if I see a habit forming I just think can I put up with this for the next 10 years because what might seem good at the time can wear thin some times. If your in a crowded spot you don't want to be worrying about your dog taking a chunk out of some one. Our cocker picked up loads of bad habits in the house for example you can't say the word bath with out him belting up the stairs yapping his head off because he all ways went up with the wife and she gave him a bottle to mess with
  9. When you see the likes of what hackers did to sony I doubt any one would be to worried about the govs little messenger blocks. Don't get me me wrong good to see they want to act but they need to think it through
  10. If they want to communicate over the internet theres a thousand and ones ways to do it so I wouldn't fancy there chances. Might be better off spending the time and money else where

    Too Windy?

Stuck my head out door bout eleven and it was picking up plus it was the coast I wanted to go. Very damp and drisley too so I will be waiting to it has passed by then it will be worth a shot
  13. Seen nothing on the security cam since I caught the last one then last night had this along the wall coming in. So I think the traps will be a permanent fixture keep the buggers at bay. I think they come from the rough out the back and check out every bodies back yards bet most people don't have a clue whats sneaking about. But my yard will be a bit less welcoming do like them victor traps strong as hell
  14. Very sad and unfortunate for you
  15. Sounds like the hostage takers are all dead in both sites so thats one good thing but unfortunately some more civilians also http://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/charlie-hebdo-suspects-and-third-gunman-killed-in-twin-police-raids/ar-AA7YKaF

    Too Windy?

I was wondering the same my self will stick me head out the door later and access. I did go once when it was blowing a gale side on to the drop and what a nightmare. Vowed not to attempt it again
  17. Time and patience I would say and be his friend sit on the floor with him and be a right soppy sod so your best buddies thats what I would do. I am far from being any sort of expert though
  18. One of perks of long netting just you and a net nice and simple and relatively stress free. No need to complicate things really
  19. Found few posts on rat snaring the other day http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/3092-rat-snaring/
  20. Looks like its had a gut full of being mauled about. Plenty of food and some quiet time maybe
  21. I am looking at it from the other side of fence my pup was hunting up at 4 months and I had to protect him from him self. But I failed in that and his injured so enjoy the relaxing times while you can and concentrate on training I reckon. It's not such as bad thing I have come to realise
  22. As above if its in them you have to worry about holding them back rather than the other way round. My jr started hunting as a pup on rabbits, rats then one day when he ready dropped in on a fox and was away. All ways had him on a lead when out digging as he was just as happy putting rabbits to ground for the ferret. Never went to ground on a rabbit though he new thats what ferrets were for
