  1. I tried crimson crush on the plot last year and no blight. They did get blossom end rot but that is another issue. Because I can't get there daily the watering goes tits
  2. Good idea time is marching on. I need to collect manure but this weather ain't the best for throwing bags in the wife's car
  3. By the time you bought all these whips, harnesses and head collars can setup your own little shop
  4. JUst read it proper you didn't cook it lol your sacked
  5. Hi Jok happy new year to you and family too. I tried sweet spuds one year as a lady on the plots had success. She said get some spuds from aldi and pop in water so you get the slips like so then you pot on the individual slips. Things looked good to start but then went tits and they finally died once planted out. I have not bother since. But it worked for this lady and she had a tidy crop. I must have stuffed up some where
  6. I use kcb leather https://www.(!64.56:886/kcb.dogcollars/ or strong stuff https://www.(!64.56:886/strongstuffdoggear/ Both grand quality and good service that should swing a freebie off one of the buggers surely
  7. hope you taught it the safe word
  8. You might find a slip lead more subtle and you can take the wind out of his sails the second he thinks about it until he relaxes then slacken.Keep it nice and short just a foot or two assuming you have taught him not too pull. I wouldn't be tying him up out side shops either regardless
  9. I just walk mine around the village and throw in a bit of work here and there. His happy enough. He gets dry food 13 quid a bag
  10. Aye perfect can't fault that good on you
  11. oh and mines not lacking in hunting instinct so keep at it and don't give in
  12. I had a similar problem with mine and messed about for a year or two giving it the old chicken and half hearted corrections. What sorted him in the end was to stop messing about and any time he kicked off or preferably before so it is easier just shut the dog down no nonsense using a slip lead in my case. Being firm not cruel obviously. Every time he started to think about messing about he hit a brick wall and I just got back in after passing two huskies pulling like mad towards him by a couple of feet and he didn't budge. He may have wanted too but new he was wasting his time so job done. Do
  13. Brilliant way to work mine flushed one out of reeds the other day. Rarity around here though
  14. Nothing wrong with pushing off it gives the dog a chance to decide where its going to land the other side and more control and slower. Had a few that all ways jumped barbed wire like that. Could all ways slip and get hung up. Better than jumping full whack and miss judging but jumping in any fashion can go tits. Present dog rarely jumps unless his after some thing and then he will jump double fences and all sorts with out a thought. Rather he didn't
  15. Get on top of all stock breaking asap and sooner from horses to cats. Get the dog used to having its feet messed with regular so you can keep nails short and avoid or at least help avoid toe injuries Get saving for vet bills and expect to spend half the season with the dog recovering from some disaster or another. From the word go don't let the dog get into any daft habits you don't want to deal with later on I know these things because I made a right hash brown of mine
  16. the one is right I reckon a nice thin line works better
  17. Yes that is very true. He is an exciting dog to work with no half measures and only one speed. I did hope he was starting to respect the ground we have to work but he really is not lol. If there is some thing about he will work the ground quickly at full tilt in case it is on the move. Once his happy it is not then it is nose down and figure it out. But it is that attitude that catches stuff compared to a more laid back type I guess. He flushed a rabbit out the reeds this morning then covered the surrounding area in about 30 seconds before getting his snout down and tracking it acro
  18. I think a few on here sell it but failing that https://www.fourteenacre.co.uk/shop/product-category/net-making/draw-cord/
  19. You can't beat it. I remember as a kid my grandad picking up an old wood burner from a scrapyard and he plumbed it in the water tank of our mobile home. It was lovely and cosy and the old tank used to burble away when it was boiling
