  1. when you pick your pup. put 100% effort into its training and entering. dont rush things . feed it right. ask for advice. there will be ups and downs.its all part of learning.wish you good luck for the future.

  5. i wear my grandads wedding ring died many years ago but someone who i was very very close to.
  6. seen quite a few in cumbria. thirlmere way.
  7. the ones i have seen have had great temperaments. my mate had them over 30 years. as for training can be hard headed and tend to throw a deaf one. but put plenty of work into the recall early doors .what you put in you can get out.i have a pure beddie early days he was hard work training wise but he came round in time. what i like about the beddy crosses i have seen ie bed/whipp bed/grey bed/whippet grey was their hunting up ability/nose work and these types really did try to catch. good luck with your choice. whatever you choose.
  8. i have seen some very good dogs work over the years in the manner which you describe you are after. some very good beddy/whippets, some very good beddy/whippet greyhounds.also collie crosses. never seen a whippet work so cant comment on these.my personal favourites are collie crosses but for nose work and hunting up. some of the beddy crosses would be hard to match on rabbits.
  9. they look like decent pups to me. hopefully they will go to some lads who will put the time in with them.
  10. what happened? he was poisoned. died at the vets the same day.never found out who did it.
  11. 1st lurcher 3/4 grey 1/4 border collie 1987. showed very good potential but died at 2 years of age.
  12. entirely your choice. if the time is put into her and you are a ferreting man. could make a marking dog net guarder. dogs from dubious backgrounds with the right owner putting the time in. can make useful marking dogs when ferreting. probably not fast enough to catch a rabbit on the run. but i have seen a few mongrels over the years that marked great and held rabbits in the nets. is this what you would want from the pup?
  13. just spend more time with her. give her more attention. she is only young. had plenty like this when young. soon grow out of it. confident handling and plenty of it.
  14. often talk to the old boys on the allotment. some real characters. it is a eye opener to hear of how little they had as kids growing up, im 47 but had it real easy compared to some of them.
  15. a lad in my area had 2 russell whippet types years ago. used them for ferreting and bushing. worked them in woodland, railway embankments. wasteland near industrial estates. both keen as mustard. never big hauls but put enough rabbits in the bag for him.
