  1. i have got public liability insurance. i have to have it for a golf course.its with country cover club, it costs 19.95 a year and covers ferreting. look at the website www.ccc3.org.uk. hope this helps.
  2. finished work 2hrs early today. took the beddy danny for a quick mooch to a local wood where i have permission. cover still up plenty nettles etc. dog marked a 8 holer around a tree. give the young hob a run out did ok bolted 2.danny put a few rabbits up from under brambles straight into more brambles.need to clear some parts off.anyway just a quick mooch before a proper go this weekend. managed to take 3 photos and created a photo bucket account but cant get any further than that. try again to put the photos on when i have calmed down the computer came very close to going through the window.
  3. very good dvd. the part on retrieving training with a young pup is spot on.
  4. i bet you dont ever move darbo...you'd miss the pies to much mate and the accents   too true mate. listening about the platt wazz golf society outings up and down the country has me falling over laughing.
  5. a mate of mine moved from st.helens to the lake district 25 years ago. lots of people advised him against it. the first couple of years was hard workwise. but things fell into place. he lived a good lifestyle and shooting opportunities came his way which he was into. he said it was the best decision he ever made. so if you go for it good luck.
  6. must have been great to be out with your son ferrreting. good luck for next time gettting him a few.
  7. fu--- me :icon_eek: :icon_eek:
  8. if that was your first time ferreting with a novice hob. give yourself a pat on the back you did well. keep at it.
  9. well done to your daughter you must be proud.i have said for years i wil have a go. but i dont think i have the patience. probably end up a tangled mess. put a pic up when it is finished.
  10. i put a elastic band on the collar double it a few times then pass the end of the strap through it. just keps the end of the strap tidy and tight with no flapping end.i find the buckle catches sometimes. so when the collar is fitted i put a few turns of electricians tape round the buckle.also just check that the collar is fitted correctly not loose.find doing these things help a bit. obviously a small jill will come through the net much easier than a fair sized hob.
  11. cracking write up enjoyed a great deal. i use a terrier when ferrreting (no lurchers allowed on the land).nice to hear the old dog is still getting out. good luck with the new pup
  12. good write up . hope the dog heals up soon. let us know how you get on with the terrier on the slopes.
  13. the specific type people put their name down for in some cases was the look of the dog ie rough coated merle. by the way i have seen some very good dogs out of hancocks and some not so good. you pay your money and make your choice.
  14. at the end of the day hancock is a buisness. ive said it before the main reason borders were crossed with beardies was to produce in some cases rough coated merles. hancock told me many years ago he had a long waiting list for wall eyed rough coated merles. which made very good sellers. i dont think the working ability was the main thing on his mind.
  15. in the eighties mainly coursing bred bitches were used.
  16. had hancock lurchers back in the eighties.think it would be fair to say he uses mainly ex track greyhounds as brood bitches now.if you are happy with your hancock dog thats all that matters.
  17. the FBI should be brought in to decipher this code. cant understand a word of it.
  18. good to hear your feeling better atb
  19. its good that he sees all aspects of the sport. a day out ferreting regardless of the catch is never wasted. he will learn something new each time.its all experience for the lad.
