  1. in general terms method 2. but situations are different. bolted rabbits from all sorts of places. where in some cases it is difficult to net. thats when you use your own intuition to deal with them.a few extra items in your bag can help with the setting of nets in akward places. you never stop learning in this sport. people will come up with their own ideas to deal with akward situations.
  2. have you had any offers off any whippet owners.? should imagine they would take you to fast ground to match their little speed machines.
  3. looks like you have got the start of a good team laurie.
  4. prefer the mk 1 but did have a problem with the dial snapping. need to get it repaired. got the 1st version of the mk3 the collar isnt waterproof on that one. as said i just tape it.dont really like the mk3 the search and locate option is too much for me. must be going senile prematurely.

  12. had to work till dinner today. so only a short trip out local. dog marked up a 10 holer in a small bank. gave a young jill her first outing.went to ground no bother.after about 20 mins 3 bolted within minutes of each other. very pleased with the jill.hopefully have a long working life ahead of her. cant wait to have a full day out. it will come soon.
  13. a good beddy will add to the mix good nose, stamina, determination decent feet thicker skin.a reduction in size when put to a greyhound.fast for a terrier also a agile dog in its own right. if your quarry is rabbits there are enough good strong beddys around to produce good lurchers. speed is not everything.i have seen beddy lurchers work over a 26 year period and seen some belters. does the beddy have to be a earth dog to produce a ferreting/mooching/lamping dog?i have seen beddys mark spot on. their hunting up ability has impressed me. i think they are a good mix to a whippet/grey or greyhound
  14. reminds me --- going back a few year my grandad used to use smoke bomb -- bug killers in the greenhouse ,chickhen pen and pigeon lofts, dunno if you can still get em ... brings back memories not seen these in use for quite a while.
  15. i will have a look over the weekend .sure i will have some spare.
  16. have problems in the greenhouse with them. smear petroleum jelly on the hinges.i also kill lots of them in the greenhouse by filling small empty baked bean cans 1/4 full of vegetable oil.try some of these near to or on top of your hutch.
  17. seen my first one in early eighties. a bloke from my area took a greyhound bitch to j.piggin to be lined by one of his dogs. dont know the history of piggins dogs. but a pup bought by a friend turned into a very good daytime rabbit dog and hunted up hare dog. this dog was also good on feather. a good hunting type lurcher.
