Next another 8 holer 2 more rabbits out of that one. The last one was a 4 holer spread over a decent area. The jill was down about 1/2 hour. Got a mark on her 3ft down was about to dig when the rabbit bolted.very happy with that. 5 rabbits in total. The weather was nice, the dog marked well and i am very pleased with the young jill. She has had 8 now in 2 short trips.

terry the ferrets will only come in season from spring onwards. no need to do anything till then. just spend time handling them and introducing them to the dog etc.
ive always had a hob along with the jills the ones ive had and have been medium sized. had some good hobs over the years.got a last years one now and hes doing well so far.
good luck with your new venture terry. hope you have many happy days in the field. good to hear of your old intrest being rekindled. atb
just a little observation get wood shavings and not saw dust.
i hunted with lurchers for 20 odd years lamping bushing with a terrier/lurcher comb my main passion was hare coursing. ferreted on/off for 12 years. then been doing it 13 years every season. enjoying ferreting more each season maybe a age thing with me now. last lurcher died 2 years ago have not lamped for about 4 years now. i can only use a terrier for ferreting on my permissions i have now. but i would be lost without the little marking dog, nowhere near as versatile as a ferreting lurcher. but i get out as much as i can and enjoy the ferreting no matter the size of the bag. its always a goo
instead of drawing pins.i use tacks/small nails with no head on them.net comes off them easy and they dont pull out. can be kept in for future outings.atb.
as I,ve said I prefer ring in the hole (that doesn,t sound right ) but sometimes its not possible
sometimes a wee twig comes in handy to hold the ring
sure you and others have a few more tricks up your sleeve.
