  1. From what I gather their is not a lot of picaxe stuff in Ireland I know 1 chap that has it but like every other big name their will no doubt be plenty that say they have.
  2. We have no wild snakes over here but plenty of 2 legged snakes that can crawl lower than a snakes belly.
  3. Antibiotics also come in a pill form and can be got from most vets Its not a big issue to keep a dog clean of infection just common sence same as if you had a bad cut yourself and you don't have to tell the world on here how you go about it.
  4. Got a young dog back that i had given a chap as a pup and he had him good as started and he has been dug 6 times also another mate started his young dog and he has been dug half a dozen times as well so looking forward to next season with these pair.
  5. I wouldn't even reply to him lmo he is only taking the piss out of everyone with all these silly questions loads of information on every breed of terrier going on here he doesn't need to ask.
  6. Lol bet you had worse smell of your fingers at times. I use the carbolic soap think that's what its called. Remember years ago when the pelts were worth money I had a fox in the back of the van for day's before I finally took it to the lad that bought them f**k did the van stink for weeks later.
  7. That's all we'll and good but 99% of the rifle lads don't work terriers so when they shoot a milky vixon the unfortunate cub's are left to die a long death.
  8. We out today for the last dig of our season and had a nice handy dig to my Lizzy bitch with 2 up tight in front of her on the break through. We had a good season with 2 young dogs started and going well so high hopes for them for next season. IMO I reckon these call outs are used as an excuse by a lot of lads just to keep going a few more weeks and in reality all their doing is killing their own sport.
  9. What ever became of that chap with the glens does he still do a bit with them.
  10. Man I was speaking to last night was told by the IFA that the del will use sugar lumps with the vaccine in them to innuclate the badger.
  11. Good hunting SS and fair play to you for bringing the young lads out with you, keeps them out of trouble and you see what there up to at the same time.I remember years ago when we had a few lurchers about us but no hounds only a few mongeral terriers we used to gather up any young lad that wanted to go and and find them an old biscuit tin and a bit of a stick and let the lose in the cover, they loved the crack and we accounted for a decent amount of foxs, but sadly the lad in there pants started to take over and they soon lost interest in hunting, lol.I have not kept hounds for a long time now but
  12. Usually find the new earths while out shooting with the springers,we be walking ground not usually done while out with terriers.
  13. Now thats very racist Neil, tut tut.
  14. My mate Pat had them, maybe you hadnt been over at that time but 1 definatly went back over with some of the lads, could have been Joe,next time i asked about the dog i was old it was mute when working and was given to a friend who had a farm to keep vermin down. They were very well bred and came from Cobh in CO,CORK.
  15. If memory serves me right we actually sent one back with you lads Dillydog one time ye were over for a wknd,a big lump of a dog about 14 months at the time.
  16. We had a couple down the years that were as good as any,one in particular been too hard for her own good but always got a result, trouble was that to keep a line was impossible as they were so scarce compared to black dogs or russells so they dwindled away but they were a grand little dog to work.
  17. I think it all boils down to what type suit the individual needs, some places can be tight rabbity spots where other areas can be huge dungeons of places, the black stuff i have at the moment suits me and the area i live in with no complaints, others might no like them but they are not the ones that feed them.
  18. Had 2 a week ago and also my 1st ever douple on snipe which i rarely fire at but the chance came and i took it.Was out again on saturday last and had 2 good cocks for the hour or so i got out, main part being a brilliant retrieve by my old lab bitch.Put the cock up along the bank of a fairly big river and he flew to the far side but i got a gap in the hedge and firad and down he went but was back on his feet and running. The old bitch had marked him falling and was already scrambling up the oppisite bank and when she managed to get on top she spent a few minutes looking for the bird the nose to
  19. But then all you will get is the peds made up of dogs that have been dead year all a bunch of c**ts,money grabbing b*****ds.
  20. We were out yesterday with my mates Paddy,s young dog, this dog had 1 dig over him and had done well.We were over on my diging mates permission and he took us to a real good place that holds plenty of quarry. The 1st place we went Snowy the lurcher was saying no at the entrance so we moved on after giving the terrier a run through it.Next place is a biggish spot but not deep and this time Snowy was in to the tip of her tail so we were in buisness,Frankie the young dog was collered up and away he went with no hesitation,We gave him time to settle and located him at just a metre and after a nice q
  21. The General had the dog ready for work before it came back to us,we just put the work in front of him, easy when you get them and there ready,he wont be over matched with big deep places but will see plenty of work this season,2 digs to his credit so far and the aim is for around the dozen mark for this season all going well, our mate has a young dog aswell with 1 dig over him so they both will see around the same.
  22. Had the young dog out again yesterday and he put in a great performance. We entered him in a shallow but biggish place and he had to work to find his quarry which he did on the other side of the hedge,he had traveled about 25yds from where he entered but once he found he never budged and we dug him at 1.2 with 2 in front of him and he working away nicely also knows how to mind himself, for a young pup he is showing good sign that he will make a reliable worker.
  23. We had another 3 this morning ourselves flushing 8 in total for about 2 hours hunting. The place we were doing we actually had 11 from it last season on a morning but the cover has gone very thick now and even the swpringers were finding it hard to penetrate at times and the trees have grown to a height that makes shooting near impossible in places but we persevered,at 1 point 2 nice red hinds almost ran me down with my mates young springer hot in pursuit, they will be there for a morning or evening with the rifle,i had to finish early as i had to go to work in the afternoon but an enjoyable mor
  24. Cheers D,he will certainly get all the work he can take and sure you might get down before the season ends for a bit of sport and you can see him in the flesh yourself. He is very keen and a nice dog to work with but he will be given only easy places for the present until next season then we will up the work load.
