  1. ABC,him or nobody else is coming next nor f***ing near me, we have our own little circle and that's plenty, also any dogs that went over to the states has absolutely nothing to do with me,I neither sell or buy dogs so whoever's feeding you this shit is filling you with lies and anyone decent dog man this side can vouch for that.
  2. It's a couple of individuals in the party, same as any of the party's ff,fg, lab,the greens all of them have a certain few that want to ban hunting. Few years ago in the Monaghan cavan area another sinn Fein's candidate wanted to ban hunting and because of that they lost a load of votes, can't see them letting that happen again.
  3. Nice write up and also nice pics,I've personally dug 2 otters and bolted 1 in my time with terriers. Last time was when it bolted from an old stone shore that ran to a river,I heatd the splash and seen it swim away. Terrier didn't show and we got a mark on him working away, thinking now it was a 2nd we dug to the dog with a good size dog fox bottled up,both otter and fox happy to reside together ??
  4. D,when properly bred there not the feeble snipy nosed things you see on here, most are strong terriers, bitchs that look like dogs, built for a job and they live up to their name. On average what size would your own make, weight wise, mine are well up in double figures and there bitchs.
  5. I'd say between the 2 of you, ye wouldn't shovel shite from a cookie clock ???
  6. What made up ped have you on that, lol?? looks a nice pup though.
  7. I know what your saying Ziggy but,if a place is all rocks with no soil about I assume it would be hard at times to distinguish whether an other animal is in or not, eg,no kick out, shit pits,no fresh digging for earth worms and so on the entrance might be tight in the rock so naturally there would be traces of hair but otherwise difficult at times I'd imagine, anyway good luck to the lads that work them,I'll stick to me digging.
  8. Just curious as would a different animal take refuge in the rocks, I have absolutely no experience of rocks at all so hence my curiosity. 5..6 piled in together sounds like a disaster, wouldn't like to be the dog up front.
  9. Ps. Have you men that work rocks ever come in contact with a different animal and would the terrier still stay, by accident I mean before the ban.
  10. I can honestly say that I wouldn't put a terrier of my own in a place like that. I will drop them in any diggable earth but that would be a no no.the men and the dogs that work these places have to be commended and I know they probably have worked them a lifetime and it comes 2nd nature to them but they have to be respected.
  11. He works f**k all let alone rocks with his over rated rabbit dogs, I have seen and done earths he has failed on with his mutts so pass no heed of him, he's a chancer
  12. Stopend you are some can of piss, what the f**k do you think the point of it was, I'm sure the lads weren't there 3 f***ing days with a track machine just for the fun of it.
  13. I reckon it takes a special type of dog to work rocks,a lean terrier with a bit of leg to it and most importantly a good nose and extra gear if needed, jmo as I don't or never have worked rocks and fair fucks to the man and dogs that do
  14. There is a big difference in a nip on the nose and a good hiding, easy clean up the odd bite, different when it's a lot more serious, I always have the dogs at heart and if I think they need more than a clean up then they get it. When a terrier has been to ground for a long period of time well infection has already got in and all the cleaning in the world won't stop it,it has to be stopped from the inside out, but everyone to their own, I'm not going to tell anyone how to do things.
  15. As I've said before, it all depends on the work style of the dog and the work or should I say amount of work it's given. The way my dogs work sometimes a good clean up is all it takes but then there is times when they need more and unless people keep out and out sounders that sit back off the quarry then at some stage there going to need treatment.
  16. Season going well, dogs could actually do with a rest right now the xmas period was busy enough. I have lads coming up this wknd so it's a lay off for our own. There seems to be plenty to go at about me which is good and nobody else digging which is even better. The season doesn't be long going round, we finish up about mid February so only a few weeks left then hopefully try a breed some pups as at this stage we really need young stuff coming up behind, at for the rest of your season.
  17. Midlands holds some of the largest red deer in the country, stags are massive and fallow not far behind them, I'm just going on what I've seen, but as said up here they have excellent grazing so compared to mountain deer they probably fair better.
  18. I actually shot down near Waterford on invitation a couple of times, I found the fallow very small in comparison to the fallow up around me, probably down to what there grazing on and also a lot darker in colour
  19. I actually made a good one years ago using a couple of lengths of inch and half tube about 10 ft long attached to a motorbike wheel with a couple of inch flat straps between the handles, great job it was for bringing them out, even a good stag felt light on it.
  20. I try shoot them near as possible to the motor, or on one permission I can drive within 50yds of almost all of the forestry as there is loads of tracks through it
  21. Everyone has their own ideas about how to do things, you have your way I have mine, I find if they take a bit and need treatment then I jab along with a good clean up, a lot depends on the way the dogs work aswell, some take more than others. The main thing is treat the dog as best you can when needed.
  22. I disagree, if a terrier is in the ground for a long period and has taken a bit well infection has more than likely entered the bloodstream so all the cleaning in the world won't kill it,it will clean up the bite but won't kill the infection. I have personally made that very mistake on a couple of occasions thinking well it's not too bad, good cleaning and aftercare and the dog be grand only to find next morning dog with a head on it like a football. I'm not saying always jab but if indoubt do it or use a tablet form.
  23. If you do fd fair fucks to you, but I can say hand on heart I don't know any terrier man that drives a range rover, I've an old vitara but it gets me where I want.
