  1. the question was the percentage of clearing a "WARREN", not the whole "PERMISSION", as already stated, by myself and others, once cleared, unless the burrows are colapsed, it wont be long before more rabbits move in from the surrounding area, either within the permission, or from outside its ok to say, just take a few rabbits, but always leave some for next time, but from the land owners point of view, they are pests eating his profit, if he see's no decrease in numbers, he'll most probably think your not too great at ferreting/shooting, and could quite easily get someone else in, but
  2. are you sure, that when you click on the emoticon box, they arnt getting transferred to the bottom of the screen, a bit like a page behind a page, it does that to me sometimes, just click the flashing bar, bottom of screen, and box reapears
  3. depending how big the warren is of course, but if you have enough ferrets, and all holes are netted, Id say 99% but you'd have to account for missed bolt holes, and the odd one underground that the ferret misses, it normal takes a month or so, for rabbits to move back into a warren
  4. christ sake putting string on a ferret, so what happens when it gets snagged underground starve to death
  5. great write up, and smashing bag there, this is what wer've been missing on the forum, interesting reads, rather than, "ferret colours"

the reason they all drowned was simple, the boss had said not to move until the water had got to "knee high", but kni-hi was sitting in the van reading a paper
  7. the same here, I feed 2 rabbits per day, between 21 ferrets, defrosted from the night before, they are gutted before freezing, but I then skin then once defrosted and chopped up both rabbits into chunks, even it out between them all, firsly I can then be sure that each ferret is getting there fair of meat, plus you can see if your over feeding or under feeding, maybe one a fortnight I'll give them a whole gutted rabbit complete with fur couple reasons for skinning, firstly if you have ever tried chopping a rabbit with fur on, you'll know that the fur goes everywhere, and secondly, Im trying t

  11. welcome to the site, Id suggest posting a few topics/posts etc, before asking for stuff, unless you just want to look in the for sale section, or post something in the wanted section
  12. totally true mate, if kept clean, no need to mate, although giving the jill jab, or running with a snipped hob will reduce the swelling, my daughters pet ferret was in season for months, and no ill health
  13. as long as your only ferreting small warrens, no reason why not, on large warrens though, you may find the rabbits give him the run around underground,
  14. christ, how big are your ferrets I have 21 ferrets here at the moment, and 2 rabbits per day are ample
  15. would think then, the easiest solution would be to put barries in both units, and try them out, screwing the caps on both, if they dont work, swap them around, if they still dont work, maybe they is f***ed

longdogrunner, just take a look in the new members section, you'll see quite a few use that to get their post numbers up, saying welcome to every new member, every day, soon puts their post count up, but click on their name, then into view posts, tells weather they do a lot of hunting, or just a lot of typing
  17. starlings and sparrows are not on the list, they are now protected
  18. I recently bought a tanning kitt, where you submerse the skin for 24hrs, but to be honest, its not that much better than skins that I simply stretch out and nailed to plywood for a week, as already said, rubbing salt in, stops to many flies, the skins still have that carboard feel to them, I also bought some oil that is rubbed in, after the 24hr dip, but dont see that making much difference either
  19. if you mean the collar?, simple a 15ft takes 2 batteries, an 8ft takes one

    warning

the simplest way, Ive had a few members pm myself concerning this, as I was the mod that gave them their warnings, a couple I saw had corrected their ways over the months inbetween, and gladly removed the warnings I had given, a few though were left as they were, so I dont see a need for time limits, just as easy that if a mod is contacted reguarding an old warning given by him, he checks out posts since, and if all ok, removes the warning
  22. right, its simple, look at woodga's last picture, 2 cages, bottom cage, door is postitioned on the left, you can see it slightly open, look at the base, see those shiney bits of flat metal, its the banding you'll see around pallets of bricks, its simply cut to length, folded around the mesh, and has a tongue left on it, the door swings down shut, going over the tongue, but on opening, you'd have to depress both tongues, I've yet to figure out a better option than that, but I 'd be a bit worried as it seems you'd have to insert a finger through the mesh, to depress each tongue, with your an
  23. Dont waste your money on the above! not enough netting to form the bagging and a bit shy on the Poles. Contact Molecatcher iam sure he will sort you out. I have already tried molecatcher says he dosent do them i got a long net of Brian brinded but there isnt enough bagging rabbits keep flipping over as its to tight in it so thats why i asked looks like im b-ggered is there any one else so why cant you just re-set the one you have, to give more bagging, but a slightly less yardage
