  1. my current and first 4x4, yes its another vitara, cheap insurance/tax and cheap to run, about £40 for a full tank, gets around the orchards great, as others have said, its a bit small if your carrying more than 2 people, as no boot space, but as mine came with a tow bar fitted, I just bought a small trailer, for bigger jobs where more nets/ferrets are needed, and of course for getting the rabbits home
  2. so who got magwitch felt pens for his birthday
  3. its all down to available space, those of us that have large courts, can if need be, not interact with the ferts for a day or two, as they still have large areas for exercise, if your limited to a 3ft rabbit hutch, fine, but you'll need to interact with them on a daily basis, to get the best out of them. you could also keep them in a cage as already mentioned and not handle them daily, but then your probably have problems come ferreting season
  4. I'd keep him seperate until his balls dissapear, otherwise, he WILL constantly try it on with her, and one or the other could get seriously hurt
  5. look at other options too, could someone have gotten in an stole her, how many ferrets in cage/run, could they have eaten her?, Ive had it happen
  6. verry small warrens, prehaps 6 holers, I'd try them out with an experienced ferret at around three to four months
  7. when you say "new", how new, do you have absolutly nothing, or do you keep a few ferrets, own an air rifle?, take some time to fill in your profile, makes you a little more trusting, I know you have only joined today, but 4 posts an not filling in a profile, means your just another newbie asking the same question, of someone take me out,
  8. another good story, and another good reason to get yourself a ferreting partener, one of you either side of hedgerows/embankments etc
  9. of course they wriggle, they want to explore, but if you want to relax them, hold them just under the front paws, body dangling, wrap other hand around body, starting from your gripped hand pulling downwards, a bit like milking a cow, all the way past their feet to the tip of tail, curving your stroke (no funny comments) at the tail, repeat this over and over again, you'll feel their rear feet relax first, can nearly get them into a comatose state like this
  10. TOTALY AGREE MATE ANYTHING TO HELP DOGS NOT GETTING NICKED OR WHEN LOST RETURNED IS WORTH IT can understand having a tattoo'd dog, if done through a registration, as Ive had a dog with this, and a few years down the line after selling her, I recieved a phone call as the new owners hadent changed the details but making your own set of numbers up, with your initals, is not going to gurantee getting a dog back, ok you can inform police etc of number/tattoo on ear, local vets etc, but if its taken out of the area, how would anyone unknowing, know that the dog was stolen,
  11. if your into ferreting, your ok in my eyes, lol welcome mate
  12. good to watch, can say, been there, done that, phoned 999 as had chest pains and shortness of breath of night, they sent an ambulance straight away and hooked me up to the machine indoors, turned out to be later stages of (cant spell) say as it sounds NEW MOAN E R anyway a 3 day stay in hosi, made me so desperate for a fag
  13. its special because its from germany, it walks with stiff legs and has a funny accent sorry julia, what would you class that as, a sandie?
  14. nice bit of ground you have there, that realtree suit is great, I could hardly see you against the grass
  15. and whats SC2 when its at home prehaps asking the same question in a games/computer store would get better replies
  16. it keeps reminding me of a clip I saw or story I heard, but cant remember where, about two blokes that had ferreted an allotment, that had electrified fence around it, plus signage, but it was TURNED OFF, as they carried the gear away at the end of the day, the guy in front had a stone in his wellie, so grabbed hold of the fence and started shaking his foot to get the wellie off, his mate following behind, saw the signs and though his mate was getting electrocuted, so hit him hard across the arm to get him off the fence, breaking his arm
  17. I'll keep that in mind mate, cheers
  18. I presume you had the decentcey to ask the site admin first if you could use HIS header
  19. watched it twice, thought it was a very well done documentary, the sniper come trapper was the best, had the right frame of mind, "its the same as harvesting tree's"
  20. I'd add a ramp, although the trousers wont pose a problem for ferrets, you'll find they become dirty very quickly, from the oils in the ferrets coat, and also make a great hiding place for meat, although you may clean out each day, the residue/blood from the meat would quickly soak into the trousers, making it an ideal attraction to flies, which will also then start laying eggs, a simple wooden ramp is the better solution
  21. do you get good eggs from MALE geese then
  22. so, having 2 jack russells and a smoker, but no ratting permission, I thought the permission I have to shoot, a goat farm, might have some rats under the manure pile, so loading the dogs and smoker into the jeep, me and the missus went looking for rats, we arrived and straight away met the farmer, an italian guy that talks ok english, who tells us, no rats, he has 7 cats that arnt fed, hence rat population nil so we all start wandering around chatting, "smart" the bitch at our heels, but "jack" the dog on a lead, as we have only had him 4 months or so, and was'ent sure that he was ok arou
  23. nice one richie, looks like your day was better than ours, the full story will be in general section soon
  24. no hard to get to corners, as the ferrets WILL choose that as the shite corner
