  1. I like my trips to London, I also love coming home
  2. We had 31 off of a bit a month or so back, it's Sam's permo but he's not always about, another group of lads turned up ferrets etc ( no one else has permission here)... they caught a glimpse of us and there was a Mexican stand off for 10m mins, then they came over, they had permision on the land next door, and jumped on here fro time to time, when Sam told them "it's only me who has permission" they left.. no worries, This land is an hour or more from Sam, probably 10 mins from me... he asked me to walk the dogs on it for him, " you can ferret if you want"... I said I wouldn't and I'd wait
  3. glad you had a good season mate, always a bit gutted when it ends, I'm the same, took my little girl up the woods for an hours mooch today with a ferret and the dogs, only bolted 1 which the dog duly missed .. nothing serious now though, ended last weekend with a bag of 51, had some good bags this season though out of the hedges....
  4. As most people, 25 plus years ago when I was first messing on my own, I knew nothing about finders, it was a case of sit it out and wait... now they are almost essential... almost.. I lost the first ferret I've ever lost this year, with a mk3 collar on, searched the hedge we were on, and every other hedge on the farm, plus the farm the other side of the road, back thenext day again, and my mate ( whose farm it is) had him and his kids out everyday... no sign.. She was a good Jill ferret, would've been bred from this year, so I was gutted... plus the £60 collar..... Like I said to Northern
  5. I'm glad I've got a couple of mates I enjoy going out with, we share each others land, but never go to each others permo without the permo holder present, NEVER, We've thousands of acres between us, and it allows land to be rotated, you'd never ferret the hedges on your own successfully any way.... If I've read this right, you've hunted with this man for 10 years, and only now decided he's a dick either he's used you for 10 years, or you've used him, it doesn't sound like the type of hunting pairings I'm used to... unlucky to you... or him maybe...
  6. I'll PM my number, sorted the gear yesterday, be nice to get out I won't know for sure until Wednesday, but if there's a space or 2 I'll be uo for it
  7. This was a trip last August on the boat I put up, not enough tide to drift for the bass wel,l so anchored up, Bream, Ling, Conger, Pout, Pollack (when we could drift), Mackerel Bass if you've got the tide and cod on some of the wrecks ( just coming to an end in August), the bass fishing can be good the skipper will provide the live eels. He's a good skipper mate, lot of experience, he does channel island trips through the summer so you'll need to ask early.... let me know your date, I might be about.
  8. Great result mate, I'm gonna grab a few short trips before the rivers close, fish should be feeding well now, especially with the weather as it is..

    Simoman

Wishing you the very best for a speedy recovery Simo, Best of luck to you and your wife on the arrival of your baby as well, the light at the end of the tunnel mate..
  10. I'll like yours a one for Matt lol
  11. Endfield....... Bunch of thieving b*****ds lol
  12. when i was 18 I first got into steel ercting/fabricating, the 2 old boys I worked with were northeners, a geordie and a Manc, they were knocking 60 then, Geordie sadly died recently the Manc (sean) is immortal, and I'd guess still clambering around up a steel frame somewhere, Geordie would have you believe he was the grumpiest man alive, it was a good disguise, as he was a funny old f****r and a lovely man..but he was shit scared of his wife, I mean if you rang the house and he answered his strong geordie accent was gone, replaced by this soft, plumby southern accent lol.. Me and my bro
  13. They couldnt afford to get home from the scooter rallies, that's why you got so many northerners ! Lol lol Either that or , their week at the seaside turns into 25 years living in the b and b
  14. The one that wants to go it alone
  15. Cheers Dan, I'll be in touch September, get a day sorted
  16. I prefer the English Riviera  Walk through Torquay or Paington and there's not an accent south of Birmingham to be heard
  17. This is Southern England (well South West), get below Bristol and not that many foreigners, poles mainly, Birmingham and North London, I'm not sure if they are still part of England I reckon the Northerenrs like it down here, the amount that end up in Torquay
  18. I remeber in Wick (Scotland) as a kid, they weren't the friendliest bunch either Liked the craic with the old boys in Penistone ( Yorkshire), would go in after work, the landlady would make our tea and sit with the locals, real traditional pub, and good old boys for a yap... was like we were back in time
  19. Get below Bristol and no one gives a f**k..... We're all sound down here, in the land of nowhere Worked all over the country, travelled and stayed in Ireland a lot (half my family are there), and in general most people are decent, Liverpool I found people particular friendly and right up for laugh, the mean tag on the scots was proven to be bullshit at the comp and before (top lads), I'll be honest though we worked and stayed in South Wales, Lantwit Major ( near Bridgend).... watching England in the Euro's 2004 in the local Rugby club, they weren't that friendly then
  20. getting fewer and farther between, theres still a few in the time warp around here, but rules, regulation's and red tape covered inspectors eventually broke there backs when BSE struck. all farms and small holdings were sterilised and polished like new buttons, theres still the few die hards with their corrugated tin shanty towns but more often than not the white van with the blue sign-age will be seen parked outside the gates and another will be sold and turned into horse utopia with an endless line of potential six year old Olympic competitors that will loose interest in twelve months or so
  21. Great post Right down to the bailing twine on trousers, f**k I've been there enough times My childhood hunting ground was a great farm to go around, just as you described......... now it's a f**k off great tescos, the farmer made a fortune (a good few mil) selling the land, he'd never have made that amount farming that's for sure. Unfortunately money talks, we can all be as romantic as we like, but in the end there's not many that resist the lure of a quick buck,

    Man United

Everyone knew this year would be a struggle, the transfer activity was shite, paying last minute over the odds price for Fellaini,... But I don't think most would have thought it'd been this bad... Last night was shocking, forget Moyes for a minute, these are highly paid professional footballers, I've seen more pride on a Sunday morning up the park ffs.... I know all the UTD haters will come out and say the plastic fans are getting what they deserve blah, blah blah.... Success for Fergie was built on a solid base ( which took a good few years to build), assistant, coaches, dieticians, kit
  23. Oh for the ground buries of the north lol..... You can't miss what you've never had, the hedges have been kind this year, you end up scratched to f**k and stinging for a week, but it's worth it.... Hope you've had a good season mate, I'll have a couple if little trips with the kids now, an hour here and there, for the next couple of weeks, then out with the rods... There's a big bass with my name on it lol
  24. That's why we take a full time photographer with us, he does f**k all work, but takes a nice pic Nice 2 pics Vin
