  1. Interesting read,id say the theory about them coming from flanders via hessian mercenaries is pure shite though-they are too much like a wheaten ,appearance and workwise not to be from the same origin..
  2. Glad to here bobs line has survived somewhere as youd want to be sherlock holmes to find a greyhound going back to him today, i think his sisters bred on well in the states though..A dog off something like flying penske would have plenty stamina i.m.o .
  3. IF YOU KEEP BREEDING LURCHER TO LURCHER YOU GET REGRESSION & LOSE SHARPNESS & PACE. COL TED WALSH STATED THIS YEARS AGO THAT YOU NEEDED TO BREED IN PURE SIGHTHOUND EVERY FEW GENERATIONS. YOU WILL SEE MORE OF THIS AS THE LURCHER GENE POOL DIMINISHES UNDER CURRENT LEGISLATION OPT-Dam straight as long as the breedings taking place are utilizing the right dogs, especialy the Greyhound side. I BRED AN OPEN CLASS BITCH, & I ONLY GOT HER BECAUSE SHE WAS TO GO TO IRELAND TO BE MATED & COULDNT BECAUSE OF FOOT & MOUTH. I CALLED IN A HUGE FAVOUR & GOT HER,BIG STRONG WELL B
  4. Thats some size for a wheaten//greyhound cross thats even taller than any pure greyhound ive seen theres some coursing dogs over here the size of donkeys-95lb +
  5. Why a pair, why not single? Coz that's impossible everyone knows only Plummers can catch venison single handed :whistling: muntjacs? lol
  6. id put some kind of hound over her-ive had russell/spaniels and they werent great.
  7. i thought blackmarket ireland was a comedy watched it to see what they were waffling about, they went to a whole pile of effort to talk pish, after all who gives a shite about foreign cigs anyone remember when either rte or tv3 had a program on dog fighting and they filmed cages of ferrets and gamefowl belonging to the "alleged" dog fighters and their "experts" then claimed the ferrets and gamefowl were kept to "bait" the pitt bulls, amount of pish they dole out to joe public is ridiculous they had a "pupy farm" on one tv3 programme that was 2 yorkshire terriers ,not a pup in
  8. Too exspensive for a working terrier, blah blah blah.. All im going to say is- If people are willing to spend hundreds/thousands on a terrier, then people are going to breed for the money i kind of get what your saying, but a person would have to be seriously thick to get into breeding terriers/lurchers for money when theres fanny licker breeds like poodles, yorkies etc that they could sell/breed/peddle easier.
  9. welcome to the forum,do you use your jagdterriers for earthwork
  10. the biggest talent any terrier can have is the ability too work too ground consistantly if they hav nt got this trait there second rate they may do a job for someone else ie ratting hunting for rabbits fair play if your happy you feed it but too say a plummer is wasted on earth work only dont make me laugh if the breed owners would get act together and breed the plummers that do work too ground between each other then and only then may the plummer turn a corner and be viewed as more than a wannabe imo. well said
  11. are you the the t.v star tomm parr or someone pretending to be him for some reason.
  12. are you the man that was the star of a channell 4 terrierwork documentary a few years back or somebody pretending to be him for some reason.
  13. one lost to ground at 7 months (not by me),the one i kept got run over,a dog i still see regularly has killed a few foxes over the last few weeks (still a bit on the young side for my liking).Theres others of them im hoping to hear from next season-another bitch that a friend has came out like a pure glen but seems more immature than her littermates at this stage.I was surprised how good the noses have come on them.
  14. theres plenty dogs about today that would have lasted only one dig before the invention of the locater collar.
  15. they are getting difficult enough to find in ireland (i.e no american or aussie bloodlines) .The mating you put up is line bred to a very good bitch.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZZ4gOw_y2k video didnt load properly, search youtube for 1990 irish greyhound derby
  16. theres dogs in tasmania that they call smithfields,im not sure if they are the genuine article or some type of mongrelly beardie.http://www.wolfweb.com.au/acd/smithfield.htm
  17. their used to hunt boar, leopard, feral dogs and some type of deer pal, They are called chippipari hounds. are they something like a gull terr over a rampur hound/saluki type? Judge where do you keep finding these weird looking crosses/breeds? just interested. Thanks for posting
  18. I saw 3 myself this morning on the way into limerick and back,id say your right.
  19. Good god they are minging.....that is not right in my opninion there's no way that's 10 month old, it's a chiwawa pup, probably a few weeks old and some clown is putting it on youtube claiming to have "the worlds smallest dog". There's no way there's a full grown dog that's 3 and a half inches tall! the world record is smaller than that again as far as i know,i agree with you about it being a chihuhua pup. There is a disturbing amount of jack-chis etc being bred.Have a look at donedeal ,every useless bxtard of a jack russell in ireland seems to be at stud on it.
  20. do you know how he is bred? has he seen much earthwork?
  21. the first dog i ever seen dug to was a yorkie x ,and she generally killed her foxes(the other half of her was trialling staff x russell)-i got a daughter out of that bitch when i was 9 (my first terrier) and i was still digging to her when i was 22..Im sorry i dont have anything down from her now.The yorkie that that bitch was out of worked fox as well.(something i always keep in mind when i see posts from people on here with their shithot foxdogs)
  22. i dont know, but id say the generic kerry blue, glen of imaal, wheaten type was used for dog fighting of a type in their past..My greatgrandmother (-lived with us - like another mother to me)-said that she remembered dogfights in ireland (kerry blues)-she was born in 1897 so that would have been around 1910 ish.She also reckoned that the only people she saw with proper kerry blues in later years were tinkers..A friend has a glen thats probably the most dog aggressive dog ive ever seen.Wheatens are the same breed just a different shape, obviously the kerry blue has declined considerably since that
  23. yeah ,there is why is the olympics, world cup held every 4 years,The best lurchers ive seen (all rounders) have been collie greyhound 3/4 breds-put any bull x to shame on stuff with teeth. Then again ive seen some fairly shite ones as well.
  24. well its where the(show) bedlington and kerry blue got their coats from-so ive heard
