  1. is it anywhere near altcar, might have something to do with it if it is.
  2. I saw a fullbred wheaten near kilcock in county kildare a few years ago that looked a grand size for earthwork, definitely not more than 22 or 23 lb.
  3. What did you cross them with? patterdale or russell?
  4. good post Dm ,The plummer breed could be the best terrier breed there is,only for people fighting over nothing, imagined slights etc. I.M.O the powers that be within plummers started worrying about things like colour too early-theres lines of them that work very well- but as far as i can see there is no selection of breeding stock in that direction
  5. i might be breeding plummer blooded dogs later this year(not fullbred)- off workers though ,if your interested pm me
  6. Id say they could if given the oportunity-its illegal to hunt badger in ireland and england. From what ive seen of them working-they dont seem to feel pain at all.The brother of my friends glen is in korea. They were bred for badgers. ================================================== hi tinytiger who is brother of my friends ? do they work on badger in korea now ? could you let me know phone number or website or email of them ? Sorry i dont know his name,He was bred by christy Hartnett (r.i.p) from, (feohanagh Tadhg x feohanagh sarah)..My friend has its brother-as far as i know
  7. Not everyone kills for fun. I shoot crows, but if my daughter brought one in,Im pretty sure we`d end up nursing it or whatever. Own reasons and all that..... edited to say, nice pics Liam. A tame crow is some fuucker ,one fell down a friends chimney (as a chick ) and they reared it-it would land on the rooves of cars and peck the head off people as they got out..Ive seen 2 foxes that were kept as pets, both by diggers.

  9. i wouldnt or if i did it would be to a dog that was killing them in short order.
  10. if you trace the pedigree of any glen back to the 40s or 50s ,they only go back to 6 or 8 different ancestors one of which carried peters gormans prefix as you said.Id say you are bang on about the origins of irish terriers..I had a right good halfbred glen bitch coming on but she got killed on the road about a fortnight ago.

was engaged to one once, almost converted her....theyre just people whose heads have been filled with shite- 1 way or another,
  12. caught it myself once(scabies)-some dose to get rid of.
  13. more than likely these dogs were worked on fox over the weekend and some wankbag of a next door neighbour wanted to cause trouble.
  14. i,d say the problem is jackeens living down the country..Accuse people of badger baiting without any evidence..
  15. THe horsey and greyhound crowd are only after our numbers when they want something themselves,,they dont give a f**k about people who are involved with terrier/lurcher work etc.-different scion of irish society altogether.DIGGING etc is an easy target
  16. the last sentence of first paragraph is not what any serious digging person really wants too hear and probably why the plummer gets no serious thought when digging dogs are talked about yea you get the odd one that does a bit there the exception too the rule . I generally start dogs with their dam, always have..havnt had any problems with this method..i work them alone now that theyre older.
  17. cousins of mine had a fox that they reared since it was 3-4 days old.dug to its dam dead etc..Despite being around people/dogs since before it was able to see/hear, it knew it wasnt a dog and kept a kind of timidness about it,if frightened it would tear into the house,up the chimney and stay there for ages.
  18. releases of fur farmed foxes by antis might have something to do with his colour.
  19. The butcher boy- forgot that one-brilliant-one in every village in ireland,,the field by jb keane as well(a play i know)-i love its accuracy ,every character is a total bollox
  20. tain bo cuaighle,,les misersbles, the brothers karamazov. the story of edward sawtelle, the outsider (colin wilson) bury my heart at wounded knee

  22. well said, TULLYEYED i never once ran down the young lads that dig and if you go through the thread you will see that.I have already stated that i like to see the younger lads at it and fair play to them, and im not that old either, just got into it very young, though some days after a hard dig i feel old. There is a lad here not far from me 17 and very keen but has bought what was sopposed to be workin terriers and they were shite, paid 500euro for 1 with no come back and that was of a so called big name. Its men like that who will turn the young off. did he buy it in county kildare b
  23. once upon a time a sighthound was a lurcher or a greyhound depending on whether a peasant or a lord owned it.some ex track dogs would surprise you
  24. one of the hardest dogs i ever saw was a K.c wire fox terrier- sired by a dog that won crufts in the early 90s
