  1. Was the patterdale or the bulmastiff the father of him.Nice dog by the way.
  2. what ever happened to letting a pup be a pup.If any of my mates let a 7 month old PUP to ground he would get a box behind th ear for his troubles very good post, i totallly agree eith you.One o the best bitches i ever had wouldnt look down a hole till she was 2 1/2 , i was still digging to her when she was 13.A son of hers had accounted for 18 foxes before his first birthdy.Same as people i suppose...all maturre at different rates.
  3. i remember reading about him in a book called "of pedigree unknown" by phil drabble
  4. sorry Ohiosteve, I guess I did not make myself clear. I will try again. You mentioned that you paid $1000 for your bulldog, I am sure you would say he is worth that, but if there was a way to test him, and you watched him fail that test. That dog would no longer be worth that amount of money. most of us know what it feels like to love a dog one minute, and then the next minute know that it is worthless. What I was trying to say is that the type of person that would want to get his money back out of the worthless dog, is like the prostitute. Who would sell a worthless dog, just becau
  5. Look at the mi5 agents(l'agents provacateurs) scappaticchi (steaknife ) and denis donaldson (no.3 in sinn fein at one time)---the british government was complicit in the murder of its own citizens--i.e they probably knew the exact details of bombings before they happened and could have prevented them.WHY -handy place to train the troops-keep the old sword of imperialism sharp just incase.
  6. caused by not been warm enough in first few weeks of life (or chronic worm infestation?)
  7. id say the dogo argentino is the closest to the cordoba fighting dog.Id say theres lots of local types that existed once here or there that went extinct or were absorbed into other breeds
  8. You don't suppose whomever told you that might have been full of it do ya? I've read that wolves have or had enough jaw strength to shear the top of dogs head off too, you can read it for yourself in a book entitled Of Wolves And Men. Its a damn fine read too imo... but I have to wonder if everything said in it is 100% correct. book by a fella called lopez? could well be true-mother nature has been culling hard since year zero-only the strong survive
  9. the've only been banned a couple of years. the last winner of the waterloo cup is probably still alive. plus you could get one from ireland. i think the lady from the "coursing diary" was telling me they breed 5,000 coursing greyhounds in ireland a year. ranging in cost for pups from around a 1,000 euro upto whatever you wanted to pay (5/6,000 for a stakes winners pup). only about 1/2 doz make any stake money, so there must be tons of retiring coursers or sapplings who didnt make the grade kicking about suitable for breeding or waiting to patiently to be turned into hunting dogs. id love
  10. welcome to the forum jonathan, is there still rabies in france?
  11. working ability comes first line breeding is ok if there both workers but a lot of terriermen and peddlersare breeding dog and bitches that are bred right but are not workers iv seen peds on other sites which are not true but then if a lad buys a pup he can only belive the man that bred it.in an ideal world working dog to working bitch of the same ancestory. if you bred a donkey to red run the foal wouldnt win the grand national.blood is like whiskey its no good water down. but tisnt every man that can handle the pure drop.
  12. because it was premeditated while you were getting the gun..moral of the story ..sleep with a loaded 1

  14. good post-do you have any pictures of your fathers terriers
  15. A match went 6 hours 58 minutes in the former yougoslavia about 2 years ago -i dont think theres many dogs that would match a pit for endurance. id say the dogo/running dog cross would be some operater on large game allright though.Theres a litter of dogos for sale on olx.ie at the moment.
  16. more stamina than a pit ...ha,ha,ha
  17. 4 dogs stolen in the east limerick area. One male 3/4 collie hound 12 years old ,big dog ,red brindle and white, one brindle whippet lurcher sapling (male),One rough coated patterdale male(2 years old),one plummer/american pitbull cross male ,plummer marked -looks like a staff from about 50 years ago,16-17 tts 30lb big head.Ill try and get some pictures up later(posting for a friend)
  18. Theres plenty fellows that would mark them up with a stanley blade as well.If i ever have a dog run to ground unexpectedly(without a collar)-i have a tiny russell bitch -a little fart of a thing ,7-8lb she wouldnt bite through a sheet of paper,,id put her in to find out was happening-she never mixes just a commentator-a fair voice on her for the size of her though.Ive done it starting pups as well ( with their dam) but it would depend on the burrow and depend on the dogs in question.
  19. I think thats all based on mitochondrial d.n.a i.e our damlines. In ireland i think something like 90% of us have the same.Men ,as soldiers and sailors more than likely were in them times wouldnt affect that,,some celtic men might have come over ,introduced ironworking and their language, rode all around them ,but it still wouldnt affect the mitochondrial dna(female line) of the population. The deise (waterford people) were definitely celts from gaul. But your right though-the ancient skulls and depictions of running dogs in pictish art suggest that greyhound types have been here since a long t
