  1. hi carraghsgem,i heard that as well and thought it was only a tall tale,.The good old green party again -practical as ever..I wonder how they think its going to be done..probably they think the badger is an endangered species(im hunting the same fields since i was 8 or nine years of age and can never remember as many about)
  2. run him on a long check cord for a while and when he starts to chase give it a good tug and turn him over ,run over to where he is ,carry him by the scruff of the neck back to where he started chasing(giving him a shake now and again,) and make him stay there.THis lesson might have to be repeated several times depending on how headstrong the dog is
  3. Tom Barrys book must have been translated into urdu .this type of tactic is as old as war itself(enemy masquerading as friend). If the afgahnis want to be ruled by primitives who think weather forecasting is witchcraft ,leave them at it...Ill bet none of tony blairs sons served out there
  4. As a Native American, I can tell you the Europeans didn't do anything that we hadn't already been doing. Had a poor crop this year ? Let's head North take it from the Iroquois . Fishing in our area not great . Who cares !! Head East and take grounds from the Cherokee. It's all relative.....nobody is a "true" Native. As the Elders used to say,"An intelligent man recognizes a superior opponet." Do 2 wrongs make a rights then Aaron? Tribal feuds are commonplace all over the world, when you look at history theres allways one group trying to take something that belongs to the next
  5. it would be quite ironic if the towelheads wipe out the yanks with smallpox.Another bunch of religious extremists(the jesuits) were insrumental in exterminating the indians (giving them infected blankets, coats etc).At the end of the day no yank is any better than any illegal mexican-all ye had to do to get your precious citizenship was slither out of your mothers box>ACCIDENT OF BIRTH...That smug smart arse c*nt driving the car should be kicked to death and fed to hungry illegal immigrants
  6. Politics..we accepted the new blood as i believed at the time we had no choice if we were going to get the breed registered every move made by any club would be blocked by norma and the so called club ..PTCGB..However subsequently things have moved on and we are now in a different spot. The Kc cant forever listen to individuals and unstructured minorities over the majority's. Breeding wise linebreeding fixing traits (most common stratergy of breeders of livestock) ,,etc yes but . you have completly lost me with.. "Talk of percentages is all very well to a point, but certain ind
  7. 7 (4 greyhounds and 3 terriers)
  8. it was passed with hardly any amendments
  9. I got the same message from RiSe.A big mistake if you ask me,its written into the dog breeders bill that the minister of the environment can make amendments to it (without consultation) after its been signed into law.Fianna Fail have already shown that they have no problem with their own grandparents and parents turning in their graves. They are desperate to hold on to power at any cost. Divide and conquer is what they are playing at-last friday greyhounds were taken out of the bill and placed under the remit of the minister for agriculture-appeased ,now theyve taken the steam out of the horsie
  10. Sad but very true, you can trust no one these days(well not many). Its a problem thats getting worse as well I.M.O .Ive had 5 dogs stolen in the last 3 years (2 terriers and 3 greyhounds)
  11. they were originally some kind of french hound i believe (nothing to the english harrier)
  12. used to follow the scarteens on foot when i was a young fellow.Brilliant hounds, ive heard of epic hunts from old fellows around here(i think it was in the guinness book of records at one stage)
  13. Im not familiar with the dogs pedigrees, how close is the breeding?.A popular cross in coursing greyhounds is son of a daughter to a daughter of a son to a particular dog whose traits your trying to reproduce. Closely bred dogs can be a bit highly strung /wild but not always.A plus side to them is that they can often breed better than themselves.
  14. i can gaurantee you that no genuine digging man in ireland(i mean genuine, not the rest)would have a plummer dog in their yard.they never have or will stick the pace of long digs of many hours over many seasons.they maybe fine to kill a few rats and hunt some cover but they are not working dogs. ive had plummers to ground 4,5, hours. They have an awful name over here in ireland so there must be some shite ones knocking about.I got mine from a guy in ballinasloe co.galway-best 200euro i ever spent.Unfortunately she got run over by my brother in the yard about a year back.I bred two litters
  15. Murphys law being what it is ,youll probably end up "giving swimming lessons" to the best pups in the litter. To my mind the word cull has a kind of selectivity inherent in it. i.e removing an adult dog from the genepool because its sh1t.As somebody said earlier dont count your chickens before they hatch.
  16. maybe its the name of a strain or a kennel club prefix
  17. and if you click on canid hybrids it takes you to this page.i rest my case http://en.wikipedia....ki/Canid_hybrid SPECIES not BREED Tinytiger im not being pedantic about this, you mentioned breeding for hybrid vigour which if you do know anything about genetics you ARENT doing.dont call one thing by the name of another, anyone who doesnt know anything about genetics reading your post will believe what you are saying whereas anyone who does know anything about genetics and dog breeding will of course know different.its wrong to put things like this in the public domain as thats how myt
  18. thanks half n half, intra-specific hybrid thats the one. Wippydoo:theres no point getting bogged down with semantics ,I KNOW WHAT I MEAN AND SO DO YOU.-words are only sounds people put meaning to and have nothing to do with how your dog performs
  19. why have the last 9 or 10 english and irish greyhound derby winners been first cross australian x irish/english bloodlines.I get what you are trying to say but the same rules apply, just to a lesser extent than with mules. I.M.O both sides need to be fairly inbred(and good) to get it.
  20. use your teeth...lol(not joking though-i.m.o best way to dock a pup)
  21. more badgers around than any time i remember,,eating nests of baby rabbits?
  22. Id use the bull on a russell type rather than a fell/lakeland/patterdale.some of the best working terriers ive seen were bull/russels of various descriptions.I think the fell types are hard enough as it is.
  23. Yes I made this video for myself & for manchester terrier breeders to what i was putting back into there dogs as they had lost it in there breeding, I know my bitch didn`t do anything that any well bred lurcher wont do, but you try and get a 100% manchester to do. not a chance, but they have a good look that i wanted in my line. I started my old bitch at 6 months with my old bedlingto ferreting rabbits, at 15 months she was lamping rabbits, at 2years + she was a single handed hare dog, no word of a lie. The best I had. We and went coursing alot at that time with the "Puckeridge Cou
  24. Yes stick to the original type of lurchers lyk Manchester terriers breed from the old english black & tan by crossing to whippets for rabbiting, rating, and taking fox. who needs all these new breeds saluki geys, colli greys, beddy grey, bull greys and your basic lurcher cross lurcher these people just make you laugh ! ££££££££££££ A quotation from Bewicks book The General History of Quadrupeds, published in 1790 confirms the continued existence of the type and states “There are two types of terrier, one being smooth and sleek, beautifully formed, reddish brown or bla
