  1. Oh my god, good luck pal,,,,,,nowt but scumbags
  2. Lawrence, does he give tongue when he's on a scent getting close to the rabbit or when the rabbits in sight. Often fancied a Cocker for mooching with the lurcher, always used jack Russell's before, it's really handy that they give tongue when their onto a rabbit in the bushes. Problem with the jrt is they sometimes try to get down the holes and hence why I may try something different next time.
  3. Brian plummer, he sounded a real clever fella. He could certainly write well.
  4. Your not wrong about it been bright, took mine in the park with the frisbee, I'm sure I had slight snow blindness........so bright.
  5. Westies can be feisty little things. There's a couple around my end, just pets, but the instinct to hunt is well and truly there. I would be more concerned about its skin. Some have very sensitive skin.
  6. Nice dogs. How do you find the plummer terrier for bushing and mooching with the lurchers, always fancied one, but only ever had jack Russell's.
  7. Used to love ferreting with my border collies.
  8. Your right there are some crap Cree torches, but good torches, fenix, thrunite etc are good......in fact very good and great for an opportunist like me.....and have excellent beams. The clu brighter is very well made and a good price, but far too tight a beam for me, will no doubt will suit some, I found I needed super reactions to stay on the rabbit when it jinxed.
  9. I stick this in my coat pocket,....suits me nice..... http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=VyaOYj89UkM&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DVyaOYj89UkM&gl=GB
  10. Well ive never had any that pick there runs, infact my dog now Bryn 1x collie x grey runs flat out from 1st rabbit to last rabbit, and so fecks him self up lol .he will do this with 40 odd runs in the lamp, to me thats not a dog who picks runs.ok a when he tired he wont run no more thats it,but norm you 30 odd rabbits with him, thats enough for me. By other collie x grey Blaze that i had 3/8 collie 5/8 grey, wasnt as good as Bryn on rabbits, but liked the old teeth job. I think he liked to kill foxes more than rabbits lol,so bottom line is there all differnt temps.Got a 1x gsd x grey pup Buck
  11. With regards to pulling up at hedges, my border collie crosses were more prone to this, the one I had with a splash of beardie mixed in with the border would fly right into the hedge and rarely get injured. Can't understand why we don't see more beardie mixed in with border collie lurchers........anybody know why?
  12. Beam tighter than a ducks arse. Well built, but not for me. Better with a good torch
  13. Is yours a pure kc whippet from working lines or non ped racing whippet lines. Cheers
  14. Some body posted an update on their collie/whippets a week or two back, think they kept two or three back from the litter, all looked cracking little dogs, very racy looking.
  15. So what is a reasonable price to pay if you just want a small springer or cocker for bushing and working fields along side a lurcher for rabbits, and is there much price difference between cockers and springers? Also, Are there different strains within the breeds which excell in different areas? Thanks
  16. My first lamp , liked it a lot smallish tight beam, with another tiny walking light attached .Very handy for putting the dog back on slip, or getting over obstacles, better wiring than the light force but most of them are! Thought it was one led,,,,,no wires etc....built in battery
  17. Yep, good quality, but I found the beam too tight, yet some find it ok. I sold mine and bought a good torch. An example... http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=VyaOYj89UkM&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DVyaOYj89UkM&gl=GB Think there was similar thread yesterday
  18. Personally I found the beam far too tight. Sold it. Better with a good led torch. Something like this runs on AA batteries, not for everybody though. http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=VyaOYj89UkM&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DVyaOYj89UkM&gl=GB
  19. My collie/greyhound had an abscess on her top gum, made under her eye and face swell. Had to be drained, and a couple of teeth out as well, she was 9/10 years at the time. Put to sleep seems a bit dramatic. You could tell she was in pain after the operation even though she was on pain killers etc, it really did take it out of her, but the vet had no concerns, just routine to them. Anyway she was as good as new not long after. Can't see him being too old for anaesthetic I'm sure he'll be fine, keep us posted
  20. For some reason I can't seem to find the Working whippet site, don't know why never had no problems finding it before. Can somebody be kind enough to put a link up for me. Cheers
