  5. Thats a good bag for the dogs better than shooting every thing in site oh for fucks sake someone change the bloody record on shooting. Good stuff by the way Mol, they've done you proud there... both in their good condition and the bag!
  6. It's a funny kind of anti who lamps, courses, digs, shoots, traps and fishes and who has keepered and done professional rabbit clearance work.
  7. Someone with sticky fingers has been around matey... at least they had the decency to not nick your wires and even re-set them. You should really check them as early as possible mate if left overnight ie. first thing in the morning and i believe this is a legal requirement as well as a moral responsibility... I'm not jumping on a soap box here but it is important to know. The longer ther are there in daylight also increases the time that any catch (and equipment) can be made away with by light-fingered sods / fox's / badgers or be fecked up by carrion. Good stuff i need the thing on m
  8. Guinness and a packet of pork scratchings... my bodies a temple.
  9. I tried tanning rabbit pelts when i was younger but gave up as i could never get them supple. I painstakingly scraped all the flesh off the pelt and tanned them with alum powder & salt and they always ended up as stiff as the board they were stretched on. My hands looked like they had be crushing quik-lime with all the rubbing in i did. I Tried all sorts to supple them, scrubbing on a concrete post, soaking in alum solution and redrying, using various polishing attachments that you fit on a power drill inc a metal brush version one which buggered it right up!:moil: Didn't have the
  10. It's a bird isn't it! Planes? Easy....get a few jars inside you before you get on and keep drinking Language? Easy...they all speak English If you get stuck here's a few pointers.... 11. Nice stuff bud, few hours worth there!! Gotta say the 50 yarder i got off you is quality ... makes my patched up 100 look well shoddy!
  12. Couldn't aggree more As well as a swivel there is a legal requirement to have a stop on the wire. Punch 'fox snares' into the search on here and you'll find a lot of info. There are also some top lads on here who may be able to make some up for you,
  13. Yeah right They are treated with the dignity and respect and responsibly buried of course.
  14. Gorgeous place and good pics :thumbs-up: ... shame the parliament is trying to screw everything up over there
  15. Cheers bud You can get something similar to a fox squeeker that is supposed to immitate a fawn calling. This bring the hinds in and the bucks follow them. (at least thats the theory ).
  16. Thanks Foxhunter, I know what you mean about waiting for a broadside shot... that was the intention as its not exactly a big target at that range . The buck that was with her rumbled us and nipped through the hedge... She froze and pricked her ears a few yards from the hole . DEFINATLY GOT THE BUG . Not trying to be Philosophical but i'll never forget the feeling i had when i was carrying her back to the car... awsome!
  17. What sort of net bud?... a badger sized / strength purse net or a longnet? Gotta say i'm intrigued... Planning on catching small children with it
  18. 'The sound of silence'... no really, i have nothing on at the moment
  19. Thats one 'figured' stock there bud Wouldn't want to try and shoot that left handed round a corner . Lovely piece of wood on it... does it weigh a lot?
  20. Great stuff bud. .. im looking forward to getting more wires down... just don't seem to have any rabbits on my patch at the moment as the mixy has hammered them and i don't want to knacker the few that are left.
  21. Cheers lads... Frank, the rifle was an elderly CZ .243 with a 95 gr bullet (winchester silvertip i think). I don't know whether it was the scope or the old model but the thing weighed a ton! Those mono sticks arn't as supportive as i thought they would be either... i may have to invest in a split-stick. Skinned it in the garden yesterday but all the neighbours curtains started twitching so moved the butchery part in-doors. I took some pics of the skinning and butchery but haven't looked at them yet.
  22. Thanks for the replys lads... Baldie, if I sent it up to SSS would you or Roger know how to fix the problem? I don't have a lot of faith in the place down here.
  23. Thanks mate Fingers crossed it will be... and there is the Mrs trying to get me to use up the food in the freezer so she can de-frost it
  24. Standing with her back to me a 130 yards with her ears pricked. Standing shot, mono stick support... right through the head . She is on her photo-genic side for obvious reasons. It had been a long day and my mate who was 'supervising' me thought he was "on a promose" with a floosey he met the week before ... he took the rifle (and the carrying rope!) and left me to field-dress the deer and hump it back to my car (about 2 miles... his was 300yrds away... (i had to hock its front legs and put the back ones through the holes to create a sling to carry it back). First time gralloching
