  1. totally illegal by the sounds of it, Not at all illegal.
  2. Well done mate awesome fish, I bet that helped you empty your reel of line
  3. Fuc* it get the .25-06 and be done with it man if you cant handle the recoil from a .270 or .30-06 then you should invest in a body building course first, ffs neither kick like a 12 bore with heavy loads.
  4. The fox that ate my HMR round the other night hasn't been able to complain about that so called ' pop gun '. Granted the .243 is better / bigger round for charles but for a night out on the conies and a fox comes up then all is good ? Yes it will kill foxes, as will a bow and arrow, but it is not the ideal thing, a .22hornet or .222 is , I admit I am biased as I hate .17 hmr, if you must have a .17 get the .17 rem the daddy.
  5. Or indeed the venerable .25-06, another death ray on deer and fox
  6. Mate if you have the ground and good reason apply for whatever you want, you already have centerfire experience with your .222, no you dont need to get a .243 first although that would do the job admirably as well, but if you want a .270 or .30-06 crack on, to be honest there is not a lot to choose between them, both will kill deer with the best of them, you might get a bit more meat damage with a light bullet in your .270 but so what, it really is down to personal choice, get your application in and enjoy mate
  7. Well done mate, and 10 out of 10 for persistence, a lesson perhaps for all the knobs that come on here, make one post then try to freeload on others permissions, look after it lad, I wish you many happy years sport.
  8. You got that right brother, the ambivalence of the hunter
  9. As others have said, not got a lot about things I have done, but a couple I did not do without a doubt, but I guess that was my wyrd, (fate in other words)
  10. Good luck in getting him back mate, cant imagine he will have gone too far.
  11. Brilliant that, I would imagine they can be a handful at full size.
  12. My redtail is dropping them left right and centre, another deck feather yesterday
  13. Deadly I have a mate who used to do all the council culling back in the 80s, he used a .22-250 on red stags, says he never had a runner.
  14. I had one a few years back, it was the sideplate model, gorgeous wood on it, they are a decent gun, firing pins break now and again, but not a lot else goes wrong with them, you thinking of buying one?
  15. Howdo nice to see another South Yorkshire lad on here, quite a few of us, I like your choice of dog without the Saluki bit lol, welcome to the site
  16. Can we have a few over here then? Sure I can find them a bit of work
  17. The pepper laminate sporter, I dont care for thumb hole stocks, I was a little concerned at first as the new stock free floated the barrel, and the Weatherby vanguard uses pressure bedding, after speaking to a rifle builder aquaintance of mine, he said you will have to suck it and see, as it could go either way, well it went the right way apart from having a recess target crown done when I had it screw cut, and a little play with the trigger it is standard, I was going to glass bed it, but after a re zero with the new stock, it will shoot a ragged 5 shot group @ 100 yards, so I think I will l
  18. Very true Deker, a good quality 32mm or 40mm lens will let in more light and be far sharper than a cheap scope with a lens like a bell end on it, I know I bang on and sound like a sales rep for Nikon (I wish) but I genuinely dont understand how they can produce scopes of the quality they do at the price point they do?? I am currently saving up for a top of the range side focus Monarch, they have to be seen to be believed.
  19. I will stick to bunnies with a .22 .243 for foxes, lights out
  20. That is a bargain for someone, dont think you will have that long.
  21. I have just spoken to Laird Rake for you, he says you can shoot the whole of the Manchester area, he would prefer you to have a deer calibre rifle, as he is having trouble with some fallow up that way, you will need to fill in a bag return on a monthly basis though, so he can keep his factors informed, happy shooting www.lairdrake@knobside.co.uk you will be able to contact him on this link.
  22. Go for the cz mate, second hand will be fine, just give it a good check over before you pay.
