  1. Yes because the .223 has eclipsed them in terms of popularity, get a nice clean 527 in .222 and you will be delighted, and look at getting some reloading gear with the money you have saved, to get the best out of the super accurate cartridge
  2. Cracking little Brno there for somebody, and at the right price too.
  3. Aye, they wouldn't destroy the kestrels nest either, and instead, let one really common (albeit very nice) wee bird, wipe out a load of extremely rare sea birds, who if ye or me had touched, we would have been "proper f****d". Aye but the rule is "hook beak and you must bow down too it". You got that right pal.
  4. .222 is just a tad slower than .223, but let me tell you mate, in the real world you will not notice, and the .222 is such a mild shooting accurate round, that hitting your target is childs play, I have seen my mate bowl fox after fox over at well over 250yards on many occasions, there is a reason why the .222 held the benchrest world record for so many years, with that long case neck it is just so damn easy to reload for and with a good moderator on you can see every hit on foxes at night, and if you plan on going north of the border on the roe, or cwd and muntjac in England, it is a death r
  5. You need to reload it to see a benefit, it only uses a whiff of powder, so a tub lasts for ages.
  6. Just to throw a little spanner in the works, you are making an excellent choice with a cz527, but If you dont fancy a .22-250 then go for a .222 it is almost impossible to load a bad round for it, it is one of the most inherently accurate rounds on the planet, and is such a sweet shooting round, and as for barrel wear it is almost none existent in .222s.
  7. Get yourself a .22 hornet, and reload for it, works out @ around 20pence per bang, and 200 yard foxes are no problem, cracking little round the hornet, and with a good moderator like a PES small centerfire on board, its quiet as you are ever going to get a cf.
  8. You wont go wrong with a 527 mate, very capable rifle, go for the.22-250 you will not wear the barrel out foxing, a mate of mine got one he bought in the 80s it has shot hundreds of foxes, and is still super accurate, oh and guess what it is a CZ 527
  9. Then there is no need for you to worry about recoil from any deer calibre you will get over here, I still say get the .25-06 it is a death ray
  10. Then put it on guntrader, along with myriad other hundreds of people who realise what a pile of crap .17hmr is
  11. I bet the cu*ts dont buy a rod license either lol, so if its a criminal offence to fish without one, where are the environment agency tossers to police them? I know going after the easy meat as usual, us.
  12. Get yourself a Nikon prostaff, with the BDC bullet drop compensator reticule, brilliant glass, and build quality, the BDC reticule is great and you can, get it spot on for your rifle, and all for around £160.00 a million times better than any MTC crap.
  13. Would it not be better to swap/sell it when its finished moulting? Never a good idea to transfer a bird mid moult.
  14. I would rather have a tussle with these.
  15. Thunder, lightening & Pissing down here...... Fu*k the missus and get pissed then.
  16. I would love to see the look on some of the peppery old gentlemens faces that frequent our grouse moors, if you told them you shoot grice with a .338 win mag
  17. Or indeed Sierra who do a brilliant selection in .224
  18. Ok decent test guys, but just to correct you on a couple of points, you do not have to use steel, there are a number of none toxic alternatives available, ie tungsten matrix (excellent) heavy shot (excellent) bismouth (shocking) and one or two others on the market, so perhaps a test involving some of the above would be useful in future? Also you can still use lead to shoot wildfowl in Scotland, providing you are not shooting over the foreshore or wetland, I have no problem whatsoever obtaining number 3 lead, as I use them in conjunction with the rifle to shoot foxes, and in fact picked a coupl
  19. Spot on there Chuck, if the op is shooting Muntjac, cwd, or roe in scotland only, a .22-250 will be a splendid choice
  20. .....338 Lapua is good .30-378 Weatherby magnum is better
  21. Well you will certainly regret it if you vote for that slimy little turd Millipede, that cu*t will take off from Tony and Gordon and flood the country with more third world parasites.
