  1. monarch 3 is an awesome scope as well, take a look mate.
  2. Eley subs in my CZ 511 very very accurate, I shot 8 rabbits last night the furthest head shot @ yards you can ask no more of a .22 rimmy than that, Winchesters are accurate enough, but dont cycle as well as Eley, and up to know I have yet to find anything that does, I hardly ever use hv, they are loud, and most rifles will struggle to produce the accuracy of subs, it can work in some rifles, but you have to try a lot, to find one that will.
  3. I am not saying they dont! What I am saying though, is that with the speed a gos goes at the likelihood of death by fence etc has got to be a lot greater than with a harris or redtail, but having said that its always a risk with any bird, and If I had a gos I would probably give it a go, but thats just me.
  4. And dont forget you need to try a redtail yet pal and dont forget, you like your lamping, dont think you will be doing a lot of lamping with a gos (not saying it cant be done) do you really want to be restricted to daytime flying?
  5. That has to be the most ridiculous refusal I've ever heard. You simply shoot away from the pub. More likely the police didn't want patrons phoning them every time they saw someone with a gun! I'd have appealed that. Personally, I think it was also something to do with my friend's personality, as he does come across as a "gun nut", but that's my belief. What he told me, that the FEO said to him, was that the pub and it's grounds border the land, on which he intends to shoot, and is therefore too dangerous for firearm use. So has said friend now been granted on any other land? O
  6. And you being rather prone to losing things, that could easily happen have a look at outdoor edge hybrid hunter, about 45 quid, the best knife I have ever owned, I can butcher a deer with it, 4 or 5 flicks on a diamond steel and it will shave the hair on my arm again
  7. My female Harris had a few, never got bitten, always had em round the head, I think some birds develop the nack quickly, I must admit, I get very exited squirrel hawking
  8. Yes I think that would be a hoot, your hawk is looking better pal, hope she goes well for you, are you going to get her going on the lamp?
  9. Which department in Asda does one find these bands?
  10. As you know I will be flying the redtail, starting to look a proper stunner now he has some new feathers, we will have to get out this season mate.
  11. Nikon everytime pal, superb scopes. dont know how they make em that good for the money
  12. Cant wait for it to be gone, load of shite.
  13. No mate it is no black art, get yourself a decent reloading manual, look at the many online tutorials, and just take your time, if you want any advice just ask mate, one or two experienced lads on here always happy to help
  14. The Lee factory crimp die goes in any press, including the hand press, not to be confused with the Lee loader, you simply screw dies in the hand press as you would any normal press, if you decide to get a bench press just leave your seating die etc in the hand press and never touch it again(unless you wish to change the setting of course) The Lee balance scales are incredibly accurate, if a little fiddly to set up, just make sure you zero them everytime, follow the instructions and you wont go wrong, a powder trickler is a useful thing, but I dont bother I just trickle the powder off a Lee powd
  15. Get yourself a Lee hand press kit, cheap as chips, and brilliant, you can take it with you when you test your loads, and you can load some in the field with it, you can always get a bench mounted press at some point, also make sure you get the Lee factory crimp die as well
  16. Get a couple of good books also, you will learn a lot, become confused, which in turn will lead you to ask questions, on here and elsewhere, anything by Martin Hollinshead is a good read, as are quite a few others.
  17. So just zero it at 1" high at a hundred yards, that will give you the same result, sounds like whoever made the handloads for your rifle did not know what they were doing, as good handloads will out perform factory ammo all day long if loaded and tested correctly, why not get some reloading gear and have a go yourself, it is easy mate if you take your time.
  18. In my opinion, only a downright fool would deliberately target foxes with a bird the size of a Harris or the biggest meanest redtail for that matter, there really are some complete arseholes out there.
  19. Just get the standard twist pal, if you want to fire 75 grain bullets, get a .243.
  20. As said be honest, and ask, you can do no more, but one thing I will tell you lad, your aspirations to be a keeper will do you no harm, good luck.
  21. As much as I like the idea of a .17 hornet, there is always the little voice saying to me,"no Charlie if you really must scratch your .17 itch get the daddy of them all the .17 rem"
  22. Other than the largest female on the tiniest cub, I would say it is almost certainly impossible (almost) I say that because strange things do happen, I know on Lancashire falconry website, there is a picture of a big female redtail on a dead fox, but a female redtail has a lot more power than any Harris hawk, never say never, but I think the guy is making sport of you
  23. The new 512 semi auto, is a cracking bit of kit, as are the old model 511s
  24. Without a doubt mate, somebody needs to snap this up quickly, it is a proper bargain, and if I did not already have an m1 I would have it off you (and I am a left hooker)
