    Good advice above, dont forget the pheasant tail nymph also, and for the top grey duster, greenwells glory, and klinkhammers all work well, if you can get your hands on mini Montana's they can be good too.

    .222 is one of the most accurate rounds out there, and is a joy to reload for, I would have one over a .223 anyday, both Howa and Tikka are very good but I have to say the build quality of Howas is superb jap engineering to very tight tolerances, another rifle I would consider is a CZ 527, they are very good, a pal of mine has a .222 and it is one of the most accurate out of the box rifles I have ever seen, and he never cleans it either, you cant go wrong with a CZ, whatever you choose mate they will all shoot well in the superb .222, I am aquainted with a gunsmith in the states, and he says i

    Do not buy a Hatstand mate, they are shite, you would be better pissing your money up the wall, get a used gun of a good make, you should get a good Franchi or Fabarm for your budget, or better still save up some more dosh and get the best a Benelli, 500-600 quid will get you a good used one, and it will last a lifetime, whatever you do pal DO NOT BE TEMPTED BY A CHEAP TACK HATSTAND.

    I dont have a 10/22 I have a CZ 511 semi, but my mate has one, if he cleans it, it jams for a bit until its got mucky again, my CZ is the same, odd I know, but my advice would be to keep the magazine spotless, and dont lube the rifle internals much, they just dont seem to like it.

    Will you lot stop it lol, I have tried to steer clear of tying my own flies, but you lot are making me want to do it! Anyway cracking days fishing monday, 3 nice silver rainbows 4lb, 3lb, 21/2lb, lost 2 and must have had the fly taken at least a dozen times,only to spit it out, there was a good wave and an easterly (ish) wind, the fish could be seen taking hatching flies under the surface, I eventually found the fly (hares ear nymph) and the depth 4-5 foot, but what surprised me was the speed they wanted it a really, and I mean really fast figure of eight retreive, as fast as I could do it,

    Tread carefully here chaps, while a mentor is certainly not a requirement in law, the chief officer may impose ANY additional conditions he or she sees fit, so they can do it if they want, interesting ianm, glad it worked for you, but I would not advise anyone to try it.
