    Yep your Bushnell will be fine to get you going mate, there are bucket loads of .243 rifles around for sale, and a bargain will appear, stick to Howa/Weatherby Tikka, Remington, Cz, along those lines and you wont go far wrong, and as for reloading advice, when the time comes ask away

    Nikon prostaff 3-9x50 mate the best value scope in the country, my pal has a S&B on his rifle I have a prostaff on mine, and we really do struggle to see the difference even at night, around £160.00, and as you know your cameras, you will be aware of the quality of Nikon lenses.

    To be fair Millet scopes are pretty good too, but I would go with the Zeiss out of the two, also take a look at the Nikon side focus Monarch range, superb glass and build quality, every bit as good as Zeiss, and other good Germanic makes.

    Howa/Weatherby vanguard, (same rifle) save up a bit, you will have plenty of time while you wait for variation, lol, mine will shoot a ragged one hole group @100 yards with my reloads, and damn near half inch with factory stuff, the engineering is superb, put some decent glass on it and it will fill the pot with the best of them, a good used model will be fine mate just make sure the barrel is good, dont start worrying about burning your barrel out, you will never wear it out stalking and foxing pal, trust me, .243 is a brilliant calibre mate, enjoy

    Why dont you apply for a .22 rimmy to use at the club for now? Cheap to buy and run, then when you get some land, you can apply for vermin with it, you will have gained some experience, and have a foot on the ladder in the fac world

    Well to be a little pedantic, the minimum calibre for large deer is .240, Holland and Holland used to (probably still do to order) a .240 h&h so it was decided this would be the minimum calibre, as it was at the time quite a popular calibre with gentelmen stalkers visiting the highlands, to the op, dont limit yourself, you have ticked all the boxes for a .243 or .25-06 no problem, you can use them on anything from fox to red stag, dont mention the deer species, you have deer and authority to take them, no need for dsc, get your application in and enjoy mate.

    every calibre has potential to do harm in the wrong hands regardless of size and power, if you require a 22cf for fox then i doubt weather mr fox would care if it was a 222 or 22.250 if you put in for a calibre specific variation then that is what you will get, if its a new application they will decide on the maximum calibre the land is permitted for, if that's 223 then why carn`t the applicant buy a 222 instead or any other 22cf for that matter. He could buy a .222 but not a .22-250 or .220 swift.

    the ticket will be issued on the ground you applied for it with and the calibre it was passed with, so anything named on your ticket will be cleared for the ground you applied with and 22 rimfire will be the round cleared for any approved land as its the minimum calibre in order to require an fac in the first place, 22 rimfire is 22 rimfire, 22cf is 22cf calibre specific is a choice of yours, if 243 is granted than a 243 can be purchased along with ammo of various weights and power, Interesting that you mention .22cf, in my area at least, ground is not passed generically for .22cf, as an
