What is our considered opinion on the bung/strike indicator, I know they work no question, and use one myself occasionally, but I cant help feeling they spook fish, so I try to rely on the line, also say you were fishing a buzzer or buzzers over say 5-6 feet of water, you probably would not fish a team of 3 but say you fished 2, and the fish were pretty high up in the water 2-3 feet, how short a leader would you dare try to get away with, I asked some good fishermen this in the boozer the other night, and the replies were interesting and varied?

Out With The 17Hmr
charlie caller replied to bunnybuster3000's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Fill your boots then mate, you can use your Hmr or .22Lr for FOX Correct foxes are vermin, and lawful quarry, so you can shoot them. -
Hmmmmmm brave man not a route I would recommend, but fair play to you, if it worked for you, out of interest which human right did you suggest may be infringed? Not trying to be a clever c*nt, I am seriously interested.

Any Thoughts On The .204 Ruger Calibre?
charlie caller replied to shropshire dan's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Similar, but the .204 40gr V-MAX pips it by 1.6 inches at 500 yards Not much in it to be fair. I wonder which is the cheaper to reload? This is the debate I'll have with myself when I come to move onto centrefire I think you will find the .243 bucks the wind rather better though, and with a 75- grain bullet even better. -
Any Thoughts On The .204 Ruger Calibre?
charlie caller replied to shropshire dan's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
A .243 with a 55-60 grain bullet will out perform a .204 every time, so why bother just use your .243 for both, a .22-250 will last for years if you look after it, a keeper I know has had his since the 80s and it has killed hundreds of foxes, and it is still as accurate as ever, and besides, how many rounds do you fire in an average foxing session? its up to you but I would save myself the price of another rifle and spend it on glass for the .243. -
Ahhhhh the anglers curse, we certainly get them here I can tell you that, the cause of more swearing than any other fly,
-
My advice would be to go for both calibres, then you can use the hmr without having to have your mentor present, as there are bound to be days when he or she does not want to go out and you do, plus the more ammo you put through your rifles, the more experience you are building up, go for both mate

Un Says Britain Most Sexist Place In The World
charlie caller replied to Fud's topic in General Talk
Ahh brilliant there should be some more brainwashing for kids in school then, along with the multiculturalism, diversity, anti white, feel guilty for who you are bollocks. -
Note to self, buy a good quality intermediate line for windy occasions, the slower the sink rate the better, what do people think is the best one? Obviously Cortland ice blue, or clear cammo 444 springs to mind, I have also heard some very good things about Shakespeare Sigma lines too, your thoughts lads please.

No mate feel free to use it

You are entitled to a full refund, which is exactly what a mate of mine did when he bought a piece of shit Hatstand, which suprise suprise did not work, do it now dont stand any nonsense.
-
War is now inevitable I am afraid, the quisling lefty scum that now rule the country behind the stage, want to change this country forever, if that creature Millipede gets in it will only hasten the trouble that is coming,
-
People should buy this instead of those piece of shite Hatstands they keep buying, good solid workhorse gun these.

Kiddy fiddlers, and rapists should all mutilated, then fuc*in killed.

Another good day saturday using the buzzer, 2 nice fish and lost one, sunday was far too windy to use a floating line, but managed to take a nice fish on a pink fritz mini lure, but when it was cleaned, guess what it had been feeding on? Yep stuffed with black buzzers lol.
-
Why oh why do people still continue to buy these substandard pieces of junk?, Ask for your money back, and buy a decent make of semi, something you will be happy with, you will never shoot well with a gun you have no confidence in.

Cuntry File Farmer Tells Truth Shock Horror.
charlie caller replied to gonetoearth's topic in General Talk
The vocal yokel, he certainly speaks his mind, and as said he has done more for our cause than most, his book the hunting gene is well worth a read. -
Well not really fishing or not, I like catching fish, so will use whatever method I can, to go home with a fish or two for the pot,as we have said earlier, fishing a dry fly is perhaps the most exiting and purist form of fluff chucking, but when I have spent a tenner on fuel, and fifteen quid on a ticket, I am damn well going to do everything I can to be successful Would people agree that generally the scruffier/hairy type buzzer are most successful when fished closer to the surface, and the sleeker, superglue/epoxy kinds lower down in the water, this is certainly what I have found as a gene

Wanted West Yorkshire - Permission To Fly Harris Hawk / Ferret.
charlie caller replied to Grizzly Stew's topic in Falconry
I bet you do Stew, just like half of the lads on here, why not try door knocking, instead of asking on a HUNTING forum for permission. -
Very interesting, the general feeling seems to be, the more buzzers, the more fish, I like the idea of yarn rather than the bung, it always seems to slow the cast down a lot, unless of course you on a boat, starting a drift with the wind behind you, then you could cast out with a loaf of bread as an indicator

I agree the satisfaction of dry fly fishing is great, and some days, only a lure will work for instance, but forgetting the early season, stood freezing like a heron, when generally only a lure will work, and even then I have spooned the fish or inspected its stomach contents at home, and along with other things like snails, leeches, and all manner of wee beasties, there is nearly always a collection of buzzers, from the tiny to the huge, and as you say Sirius, you end up using buzzers at some point in most sessions, along with the way my catch rate is going this season, leads me to believe I h

Wanted Suzuki Jimny 1.3 Or Small 1.3 Or Less 4X4
charlie caller replied to a*beater's topic in Vehicles & Quads
Jimnys are not mega cheap on insurance, you might want to get a prospective quote or two before you go down that route, or indeed the Diahatsu terios, which are really your only choice. -
Just out of interest guys, aimed at the reservoir/stillwater trout fishermen amongst us, what percentage of the time would you say you spend fishing buzzers? If we accept that around 70- % of the trouts diet consists of buzzers, and they will hatch 365 days a year, then in theory at least, we should fish them a lot, I have fished buzzers more often this year (as a bit of an experiment) and up to now I seem to be catching more fish, just looking for others experiences/opinions.

Have a serious look at Howa/Weatherby vanguard too, seriously well engineered rifles, and brilliant value too.
