  4. ? I d retired him then he was 12 but was nt having any of it. Used to howl the place down when I took the others . He s 15 in July and still not ready to pack in
  5. I ll second what down south said. All my bull x s have been very laid back. Especially the half crosses they never made a peep in the kennel and If we were out with terriers they would never be all over the earth. Just go and sit at the top of the earth and wait. He might just be glad to be out. If you have access to a quad give him a decent run daily round the farm. Nothing drastic if he s a young dog but give him a good run and let him come and have a nose about when ur working . The dog I have now I got at 9 months old and he was the same. His head would touch the kennel roof ,jumping on th
  6. To be honest he has good feet. I ve only ever had one with bad feet which was a half cross. He s a reverse 5/8 x 3/8. He started his working days early hence no recent pics
  7. I took the mrs years ago. We had a foot pack and were pushing woods through. I had the younger running dog and gave her the more experienced one. Neither dog was bad mannered and I normally ran them with no problem. I dropped her off on her corner of the wood and said let the fox come about about 40 yards then slip him. DO NOT slip him on hares as it was foxes only for the keeper that day. I went up to my spot and tucked somewhere quiet. Hounds started to speak so my eyes are scanning everywhere. Next thing I see my old dog running a hare in front of all the guns. I flew down on the quad to bo
  8. I must add that I respect the lad for ringing and telling me the bitch had jacked as a lot of dog men would have said nothing so hat off to him for his honesty
  9. A mate of mine asked me if there was any decent bull cross pups about recently so I rang around. There was a litter from a dog that I had bred to a bull cross bitch with some decent names behind her. I took my mate to see the pups and the lad who had bred them had been sent the bitch down from his mate to use his dog over. She worked with terriers and was good on top he was told. He d taken her out a couple of times but only finding a couple of runs each time. Personally I d have thrown the work at her and see how she coped. Long story short pups all put in working homes and the bitch has now

  12. For a good all round lamping mooching lurcher a half cross is a good cross. BUT as downsouth said the bull line must be decent to start with and not just any old greyhound used. All my half crosses were steady with ferrets and all stock including cats unless told otherwise. It’s up to the owner to spot when the dog needs a break though as all mine would run until they dropped . Easy to train eager to please but a bad reputation in a lot of people’s eyes. I run a reverse 5/8 now and he ll retrieve rabbits live to hand and can run for his cross. I only found them lacking the gears on daytime fox
  13. I would nt know Einstein as I work the dogs within the law but if I did I would nt be putting it on an open forum ?
  14. So people with bull or Wheaton crosses hang around fox and badger earths . Ffs .
  15. Dilly has a good point . A lad once said to me , your a jammy txxt you always seem to pick the pups that work. They still after all these years think they are having bad luck picking pups
