i m well aware of rock piles and quarry faces I ve kept terriers for long enough. I don t keep mute dogs either, that was morton s opinion on myself. I m not slagging anyone off either I just don t see why multiple terriers are entered. So do you double and treble dogs yourself ?
-
Bushing dogs that will do half hour to ground accompanied are a far cry from single handed digging dogs. If mine are fat and mute I can live with that but I'm afraid we have different views on terriers.
-
And how do you dig to yours when you treble up and none of em will stay hence why u can keep them off the lead.

There are Bedlingtons and then there are other Bedlingtons. In over 30 years ive never lost terriers entering as pairs and have purposely entered them at times, ive lost my share of individuals entering. The main things to take into consideration, know the lie of the land and know your charges and how they work, alone or together. hi can i ask why you would enter two dogs to ground is there something to be gained by this, personally i think it causes more problems than it cures. At times it happens as a result of the terriers bushing ahead of you,at other times ive extracted a fox or many more

Good advice terry. That's what I'm doing with my lads young bitch now. We re going to ground only holding a handful of bunnies to get her spotting. At first she could nt spot so we went back to basics taking her over the field with a soft toy and throwing it into the dark then put the lamp on and let her fetch it . Did nt take long and she runs the light well now.

Good honest answer. Thanks. As I said it amazed me the pace of the dog I saw. Its target was a good 200 to 250 yard slip pushed from a wood and I know my dogs would nt have made that ground up. He covered it in no time and connected and made it look effortless. Brilliant sight

Absolutely stunning animals. Excuse my ignorance but what would one of these be like as an all round lurcher. Ie lamping , foxing, out with terriers mooching daytime. I see a lot of comments regarding recall. Is this a typical saluki trait . Not knocking the cross as I'm genuinely interested in keeping one. After always keeping bull crosses for years and wanting that extra gear I watched a sal grey x bull grey run and was amazed at the pace and endurance of the dog. But sadly his recall and stock breaking needed work.

Warriors And Pot Fillers Of The Past Rip
jake824 replied to whitefeet4190's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I would love to go back to when we used to walk with terriers lurchers shovels etc. They all learnt hell of a lot more and I seemed to have the time to be out all weekend. In from digging then food and shower and a couple of hours then out lamping. Really good times and cracking company .I honestly don t think my last lurcher would have stuck the graft that my others did. -
Warriors And Pot Fillers Of The Past Rip
jake824 replied to whitefeet4190's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
its horrible to watch em get older. My best dog I watched him slowly over a season missing runs he normally nailed em and then he started to jump on the quad instead of running along side it. He was still spot on out with the terriers but struggled out with hounds daytime. I never had a lead on him anywhere he was a pleasure to own. Enjoy ur bitch and her pups bud, hope they do well for you -

Strange how u think its the norm at the time to own a great dog. Then when you lose them u suddenly realise how good they were. Replacing them s the hard part. -

Why r people getting rid of these pups all of a sudden ? -
sorry for your loss Neil. My old dog is 12 now and there's plenty stuff about from him now and I still work him. He s the only one that lives inside and goes to work and everywhere with me. Every time I work him I often think will this be the day but he keeps going . To leave him behind would be the end of his world and he d howl the place down. He proved 3 younger dogs wrong very recently and I admire the old dog. 15 is a good age for your bitch and I bet u have some great memories with her. All the best old girl sleep well

Some things don t need to be said . We ll agree to dis agree . All the best

there s spewers in bull terriers as there is in greyhounds. Every greyhound does nt have great prey drive and a lot of bulls would tuck their tail up their arse if they were nt having it their own way. Hence the amount of shit that's being bred from cos it has a good head or has killed a few foxes.don t agree with u on that mate sorryRead the post pal where did I say every greyhound I said a decent onei did read it . U said u don t see the fuss about what bull is used and I do . I said every greyhound does nt have prey drive. So if u used a decent greyhound why then would nt u use a decent bul

To be honest unless people have personally kept and worked the different crosses and not just seen 1 run on one night then I can t really see how they can give judgement
-
The lad said he needed to go back into the bull did he?i was nt talking about the lad just in general . He has his reasons to breed it I'm sure.
-
And I agree with d south if ur half crosses are good enough u should nt need the 3/4. If u do need to add more bull then the half cross should nt be in the kennel to start off with.
-
A half cross will be more useful not much but more than the 3/4. Kept and worked both. The 3/4 reverse was a result of an accidental mating and I kept a bitch back . They came out about 23 inches and plenty people saw her and her litter work all manner. As handy as her father the half cross , no but still a handy bitch and good breeding stock to go different ways with.
