  1. The old boy who had the beagles who was really anti bull cross had a pup off me and ran him with the hounds in the end. We re not all bell ends honest lol
  2. I think a lot of people have that opinion. When ever I went on a fox drive or we had people down , especially the older generation they would all look at the old dog I had and say I don t like bull crosses . When I asked why , it was more the owner being a knob than the dog itself. Shame really cos in the right hands they re a cracking loyal hard working biddable lurcher
  3. put them on bricks mate. It ll stop any legs under the panels and when u wash down no shit will go under into the next kennel .
  4. No probs. Everyone will have their own views but that s what works with me. She ll naturally rat , especially if you can take her with other dogs. Bushing you can start as soon as she s jabbed. Take her in the woods and encourage her to mooch about . I tell mine, find it ,if I want them to work cover. Sit somewhere quiet and watch how she ll naturally be inquisitive and gain confidence to find things. But remember the recall also she must return when called. It could save her life one day. Food wise there s loads of options really. I feed raw minced tripe or raw chicken with a biscuit. If ther
  5. Treat it like u would anything else. If it does wrong scold it . Socialisation is very important , take it with you to experience different situations i.e. My other half takes my young terriers and lurcher s to the school , markets , anywhere busy. But remember to keep the pup calm . A pup learns from its owner. Soft fat unsociable and disobedient would all be traits u control. Don t overfeed it, if u think it looks fat ,up the walks and drop the grub. Small things escalate unless nipped in the bud quick. If it pulls on a lead , correct it , if it s re calls bad then repeat and repeat till it'
  6. What type did u use for the big males Red cos they're a lump of an animal to pull
  7. Definitely fox. We used to meet in the cafe at 7 have a breakfast then on to a mate of mine who had a small pack of beagles and we d go to different farms and estates pushing woods and cover. There was only about 5 of us all goodmates so no bickering or back biting. Me and a mate ran lurcher s and the others shot. We d push the woods then do the earths . Munty and hare were run if the landowner allowed it. I saw some cracking runs and god forbid if ur lurcher was a jacker cos u d have the piss took all day. My dog took a large amount of foxes each weekend and was handy on a dig. we always went
  8. Fxxxxn hell dilly and I thought I bottled things up.
  9. I would nt get caught up to much in lines and breeding to be honest. If the sire and dam graft and its only for a bit of mooching then just rear it well and put loads of time into the first 12 months and no doubt the hard work will pay off
  10. correct. I ve got a scrap yard and in the end I put cctv and good lights up as the police said I d be done if the dogs bit anyone
  11. Lovely pups. I take mine out as soon as their jabs kick in and show them as much as possible i.e. Stock , travelling , hounds , terriers, walk them with the gun , let them get through fences etc. I have a 8 month old bitch that's marking earths already they re not worked just taken out everywhere I go. I even get the Mrs to take em up the school just to get them socialised.
  12. Personally I'd put em on a course of bricks or blocks. A lad I know had a terrier nearly pull the leg off another under the divider
  13. To answer the original question I think everyone has their own standards. Friends I go out with keep dogs I would nt kennel and I listen to the excuses week in week out. But they re happy with what they keep and they breed from them . I don t think there s a lot of access to quality dogs now which is nt a bad thing it keeps the donuts away. I get obsessed about studying the dogs working style and how the relatives to that dog work and try to find a balance. Probably wasting my time as I ve bred plenty second rate dogs and will no doubt produce more. No one has the formula to 100% success rate.
  14. Great to be in sync with ur dog. I never used to speak to my old dog he knew where he needed to be and I never had him on a lead and would run when I told him to. Never had that connection before or since that dog. good luck with him hope u have many a year with him
  15. there s a dog I know of not far from me . Pm if u want any more info
  16. Definitely Suzuki kingquad. Had em for a few years and they re really reliable , better ride than the Honda and as stated plenty of power. The 450 is hard to get now but a good bike
  17. Great pic dd . As biddable as all mine are there s no chance of mine doing that without me there. As soon as the mrs was on her own it would be carnage. Do you never have problems with a young dog feeling his feetThere's one who's not in that picture that isn't in that gang, he's treated like a leper, he's ok while I'm around but he's one of those strange b*****ds that won't mix.fair play it's nice to see. I ve just had a bitch back that s been in hunt service for a while now. When I fetched her my mate said watch her she won t tolerate other dogs which surprised me . She did when I put her ou

  19. Nothing to do with being lazy at all Neil. And here not in the good ol Emerald isle u have to use discretion . U could drive round each farm park and walk but with the amount of footpaths and general busy bodies it would nt be long before u had someone looking down from the top of the dig
  20. As you say rob depends where u r. I m lucky enough to go from home on the quad and we ll cover a lot of farms throughout the day
