  1. Just waiting for an old half cross bull greyhound to come in season. I ve always run quite heavy dogs but am really considering putting a greyhound over her . Jake s right in what he s saying , on big fields these heavy dogs struggle on the turns. Top end is no problem but they get turned inside out. No good having a massive head if they can t catch what’s in front of them
  2. I prefer the plastic it’s easy to clean and lasts for years
  3. One thing I would say with block kennels and runs is the blocks act like a sponge and they hold the smell of piss especially if your kennelling dogs more so than bitches due to em cocking their leg. No matter how much you clean them they still stink of piss
  4. Could nt fault him tbh. Book came next morning
  5. In my old house my set up was similar and I had a shed on the end. I put the tumble drier in there and piped the vent across the top inside of the kennels and put outlets on in every run . Anything helps
  6. Long as the run has no exposed corners and plyed out properly there s nothing they can chew with panel fronts
  7. It’s surprising how much the cold will pull the weight off a dog .
  8. They re really easy to keep on top of . I fix the hose to one of the jet wash type soft brushes to clean the plastic once a week and just use a squeegee on the floors. They re indoor anyway but if it does drop really cold they have heat lamps above the beds
  9. Wooden kennels are fine mate and last years
  10. I know lads with terriers/lurchers that rifle with thermal . Can never understand feeding dogs in the kennel and killing your own sport with a rifle .
  11. A keeper from Scotland came down with a couple that looked and were bred similar but I never got to see them work as it was a quiet day that day.
  12. I know exactly where your coming from bud. I ve kept most types of bull crosses ie half cross , reverse 3/4 , reverse 5/8 etc over the last 20 odd years. The half crosses were like land rovers . Take a knock , and run till they dropped . But they lacked the gears and turning on long slips. The best all round dog I ve kept was out of a half cross bitch to a Lurcher dog containing a small amount of bull blood. Why not use a 3/4 gh 1/4 Bull
  13. Books came next morning after payment . Spot on ?
  14. Mate of mine at the time had a half cross collie greyhound bitch that was mustard on foxes. When I saw her last she was 9 and took them with ease as she always did. He put a good tested half cross bull greyhound over her and kept 2 bitches out the litter. They looked perfect when matured, long muscular with good legs and feet but sadly would do teeth when it suited them.
  15. The numbers were about then. We regularly had 5s on an average day our best was 11.Farmers son s started to get rifles and hammered it. I ran a 5/8 gh 3/8 Bull at the time and he loved the graft. My mate ran a little beddy whip grey bitch. She was as game as they come for her size. Wish I d have took pics of some of the scenery and dogs.
  16. We used to go out with an old chap with a little pack of all sorts. Beagles , griffons , Russell’s , odd fox hound and he loved lurchers. We cut the numbers down to him and 4 of us because of all the back biting and bitching and it was some great sport. Start off in the local cafe with a breakfast then do small planting’s , roots , small woods moving from farm to farm. The lurchers had loads of work and we killed a lot of foxes. If someone had a new dog and it pulled up or jacked you had to take the stick but it was all in jest. Brilliant times that stick in your memory . I miss it
  17. Bull crosses are eager to please and piss easy to train. If people saw a good well trained one on the field they would be pleasantly surprised.
  18. He s just over 3 year old now . Really steady dog and lives for work . For his cross he can move. He lacks on the turns but I can live with that
