there s a farmer not far from me with 2 small border collie bitches. I'm not a big fan of collie crosses but these 2 bitches are as rough as rough. They sleep wherever they can find shelter all year round and when we take the terriers ratting they kill as quick as the terriers do. I ve personally seen em take fox and they have stamina to burn. Will he let me put a good greyhound over one ? Will he hell. Miserable old txxt . Ask him if he knows of any males of the same breeding he had the mother of unknown breeding who got caught by another collie from a nearby farm ,who by the way was as mad

Obviously it would be foolish to become complacent and get lulled into a false sence of security regarding what we say, on the Internet,...cos,..we definitely ain't alone... However,..it is still perfectly legal to catch rabbits,...we just got to be aware.... Not done any regular lamping for years,...but its right good craic and should make for a good subject to read about and inwardly digest.. if it was just pics of rabbits being put on f book and the Internet then that would be fine.

Nah I enjoy being a no one in the dog world lol there s enough big names and people want to be known. And with the Internet and mobile phones I dare say they will be known.

Lol was gonna say it ain't just the dog who's blind I was looking and thought it was a wind up.

Thing is people really can t keep their mouth shut. I'm all for helping young lads into terriers and lurchers but its a lot of the younger lads on face book etc putting stupid pics up that no one needs to see. I ve got some good pics and stories over the years but would nt want em in a book for everyone to see. I ve enjoyed some of the terrier books out , cracking read. Good luck with the book bud.

I got my lad a whippet bitch this year as my dogs would be to big for him to handle. I looked at her as a pup and thought little scrawny fragile thing. Truth is I spend more time out with her than he does. Cracking little bitch she is ,loads of confidence and feck me they can shift from a standstill. Great fun. She plays my bull crosses up terrible and they re to slow to catch her

There like tanks Wales. I have an old dog and bitch here both first cross Bulls and they have never been laid off for any length. Ripped nails out and working knocks but no running injuries. Not the fastest but they are reliable the half cross

Many years ago now I ran a three quarter greyhound quarter collie. He was from Hancock out of a half cross called stormin Norman to a greyhound bitch. He was the easiest dog I ve had to train and he could cover some ground . He hit 5 bar gates wire and I would lamp him on all terrain and his feet were nigh on injury free. He stood at 28 inches and was well muscled but the coward would not touch anything with teeth. We parted company when he was 2 and a half years old . He d had more than enough chances by then

We were out foxing with a foot pack in winter and it had froze hard and as we walked across some plough a hare got up. My mates 2 collie crosses and my bull cross took after it .After 20 yds both the collie crosses had pulled up.My dog carried on and I watched this hare running my dog inside out up and down they went with me cursing. My mate cursed his dogs calling em all sorts. My dog came hobbling back across the plough empty handed and spent the rest of the day in the truck while my mate had a few foxes with his dogs . Mine the better stronger dog? I think not. The collie crosses had the sen

Where did she come from out of interest

I ve run bull crosses for years now and a keeper mate of mine sent me a saluki greyhound first cross to a first cross bull greyhound down to run as he was nt having the work he needed. I was a bit reluctant cos I'd heard all the stories about saluki crosses being thick and whining and another lad told me they would nt suit what I needed in a lurcher. Now I've owned or seen run all different percentage of bull crosses ie 3/8 , the 1/4 or half cross. But I can honestly say that I ve seen nothing compared to the pace of that dog. Very impressive and it just showed my ignorance really in how tunne

Spot on there. I remember someone saying to me a while back that he could nt get hold of any decent dogs cos he was nt in the circle so to speak. I told him he could nt get gifted well bred dogs cos he was a donut with a big mouth and well bred dogs took work and lots of lots of time .it would be like giving a monkey a machine gun so to speak.

I ve seen some pure bulls out with nick and they were a pleasure to be around. Very well mannered athletic and worked with hounds . Running through stock and mixing with other dogs. Very well socialised.
-
spot on mate. And if everyone was totally honest about their dogs before they bred them I suspect there would be very few litters about.
-
Spot on bud was just writing something similar. Where s all the sensible lads and true dog men gone off this site.

does nt quite work like that bud wish it was. We tried a few times but they were nt up to much. The collie x bitch was top notch at her job and the bull x was pure drive and determination but the offspring were neither of the two. It seemed to dilute the gameness they were selecting holds and holding back . And they were a bit heavy to run small game . Not for me I'm afraidThats only one litter tho. I just put that down to failed attempt. Not something to base a whole opinion on a x. Maybe the two bloods from them lines didnt work out. Not all dogs are producers. Loads to take into account.

Half Cross To Half Cross Advice Wanted.

nice looking dogs but to heavy for what I want bud. The bitch is a bit finer than him and the dog a lot longer bodied . That's why I was asking if the second generation threw a finer rangier dog. The stuff out of my dog is similar stamp to yours but I find they struggle for pace . -
