  1. If I was starting from scratch I'd go for a Mk3 . The price of second hand Mk1's is ridiculous . Can't say much about the Mk2 except I believe it was plagued with problems which is why they updated it so quickly ATB
  2. If you don't get an answer mate google Ferret Welfare Societies there's bound to be one near you and they'll know of a local ferret experienced vet ATB
  3. Two jills and a CASTRATED hob will live happily together ,it's a traditional combination, but he will not do the business to bring the jills out of season . For this you have three option Jill Jab, Spaying the jills and a VASECTOMISED hob . The Vas hob is imo the best option but he may be so keen that he will never leave the jills alone ,so you might have to house him seperately until he comes out of season even then it's a matter of trial and error as he might still rag the jills . ATB
  4. How far is Essex from Norfolk? Y.I.S Leeview Couple of hours. I used to live there too
  5. Even the Welsh must have snipped hobs by now
  6. Sorry mate, it's a proper bar steward when that happens ATB
  7. They'll love the stuff mate, nice move ATB
  8. I know it's tempting mate but don't try and work your ferret at this time of year, you'll get no end of lie ups......it can be bloody hard work........particularly if you're new to the game . ATB
  9. All the sliders I've seen have all been home made from high tensile fence wire and there are several net makers that use these things regularly . It's a matter of sitting down and making a 'jig' so that each one is the same and manufacter is simplified or you can buy the adjusters for tent guide ropes which will do much the same job . I've never used these but from what I can understand it's easier to cast off onto a slider . ATB
  10. kobi2k4 has got it about right there mate but for you and the family it's time to get to a few game fairs and look round at the different bits of kit available i.e. net sizes and materials etc or find the ferret welfare society stand, chat to all these people they're usually very knowledgable and you can learn a lot....one tip, don't pretend to be an expert, you'll make a prat of yourself within minutes ATB
  11. That's the answer mate....tick remover looks like a little pair of tweezers ATB
  12. Forgot to mention pm me if you want cheap nets ATB
  13. If it's any help mate, I always get my ferrets from a ferret rescue (google it)and tbh I've never been let down..all been reasonable workers . And usually these people know ferrets and can give a lot of helpful advice to a beginner....buy a good book ATB
  14. Bridport Nets, mate. Just seen it on his stand at Kelmarsh ATB
  15. No mate sorry can't help you with 2nd hand.....have a look on e.bay ATB
  16. As they've said it'll make no difference but the positive side is that it gives different people a chance to air thier views, personally I think it's a good thing people keep asking even if the questions are the same.....it's what forums are for and no-body knows it all . ATB
  17. Yes mate, at the beginning of this forum at the top you'll see a post 'How to make a cheap quickset' if you bought a traditional longnet and followed that you won't go far wrong ATB
  18. I suppose about 5/6 feet and that's plenty and thankfully not very often ATB
  19. Good news mate, I love a happy ending . And the moral of the story is....never go anywhere without your sausage ATB
  20. Hullo Mate There are loads of places you can buy a longnet from try looking in The Countryman's Weekly or as you said on e.bay . Which is best is really a matter of personal preference, not much help I know but I prefer Brian Brindeds set up . Take a look at the post "Quickset basket - which one?" and you'll see there's a whole variety of opinions on these things and the debate got a bit heated in places The one thing I have noticed about e.bay baskets is that they seem to resemble Brians version anyway....so it may just be a matter of price ATB
  21. I might be wrong here mate, but I think MDF does contain some pretty harmful chemicals . The dust when cutting this stuff is harmful . I'd dig deep and buy a bit of plywood if I was you . ATB
