  1. Glad you had a good day and the nets came up to expectations, looks like those ferrets just can't make up thier mind which rabbit they're going to carry off ! ATB
  2. pritchy made a very good point and if the rat is dead you wouldn't know if it had taken a dose of poison
  3. Never thought about it much until now. I've bolted rats, foxes, stoats, weasels and only once a little owl, seen snakes go into a bury and also seen a hedgehog in a bury . You bloody lot have got me worried now !
  4. You want to post this on the "Falconry" section ,mate, you might have a bit more luck ATB
  5. What a bar steward, sorry to hear about your jill, mate ATB
  6. I'd say it was an unlucky kick if nothing but a rabbit bolted before you dug her out. Most creatures will take the flight rather than fight option even mink . Hope she recovers anyway . ATB
  7. Rabbit when it's available ,pet mince and go cat . I never feed mine 'road kill' Brian Plummer once wrote "avoid road kill like the plague because it's probably carrying it!" I think he was right . ATB
  8. Excellent set up mate I keep my cages in a shed, you'll really appreciate it when you're cleaning out cages in the winter ATB
  9. Very nice who do I send my order to ?? ATB
  10. One model works to a max depth of 8ft and the other model to a max depth of 15ft ATB
  11. Hi mate the 15ft and 8ft business is thier max working depth . For the life of me I can't understand why they done this other than for commercial reasons because a 15ft locator would cover all eventualities . ATB
  12. Nice to see the kids being encouraged and look at him smiling from ear to ear well done mate ATB
  13. I think tiercel just about summed it up mate, what ever you use is going to have the "bulky" problem ATB
  14. I'll be there, mate on the ferret stand...it was a bloody good game fare last year so expect much the same this year
  15. In that case mate mexlad has got it right, it's what I'd do ATB
  16. TBH mate I don't know about W/Yorkshire but if you find you do have to order by post Agouti is very reasonable . I've got to agree tho it's the postage that kills it ATB
  17. That could mean either he has killed or injured, it's always worth popping him down again tho. Just a point, it was rabbits blood wasn't it ? It's possible he had taken a back kick in the face and the blood was his .
  18. I ALWAYS use a locator, it's the one rule I'll not be moved on and have done since they were first marketed . But I agree with snakes they are expensive . ATB Bryn
  19. Sounds like it's your first ferret, mate . Good luck to you ATB
  20. Ferret show judging, bit of fishing, net making displays and sales at the game fairs
  21. You want to cut the pegs about 1metre long and I fix my peg every seven/eight yards on the net . How far up the peg you tie the bottom line is a million dollar question . If you tie it too far up and net on hard ground you'll have a gap because you can't push them in far enough so you need to fix the bottom line so it can move up and be pushed down, I'd say fix it at about six inches and take it from there, you know for sure then that the bottom line will hit the ground . ATB
  22. If it's any help, mate, I think there's tutorial on Agouti's site that you might find useful
  23. Hi mate The usual width of a net is 15 meshes to shape a net you must start with less than this..for example start with 9 meshes increase by 2 on every row you tie until you reach 15 continue with 15 until you reach row number nineteen when you must start decreaseing by 2 until row number 21 which will be back to 9 meshes...and so saving net making materials and time and I bet I can guess your next question so ask away ATB
