  2. Well done for testing your kit before using it on a ferret mate You say you're sure the reciever is OK does that mean you've got a second collar somewhere to test it? If that's the case obviously it's the first collar that's gone for a .
  3. All my ferrets are rescues and they are usually unwanted pets that have never seen a rabbit never mind work but they all come round eventually .Take your time mate it'll come right in the end and there's always the risk that if you get rid of it you're loosing a good worker . ATB
  4. I'll go with every word of that
  5. Advanced Netting stuff is as good as you're going to buy anywhere mate - mainly because most of what you buy anywhere is from Advanced Netting - if you're unsure I'd go for 6z you can't go far wrong with this stuff really . ATB
  6. I'd go for it mate, that's cheap and they're nice looking baskets as well
  7. That was an interesting thread, curious how different people have such contrasting opinions on net making materials ranging from good old fashioned hemp to 21st century spun poly . pm me mate I do decent 3'6" 10z nets for a £1 each +p&p
  8. Looks like one of the undead risen from the grave
  9. 10Z 3'6" long purse nets (cut from sheet) for sale £1 each 10 for £12.50 posted Paypal cheques postal orders etc accepted pm me I'm in W/Norfolk
  10. It's a lot easier and cleaner to do it with potatoes soaked in something smelly creosote isn't available any more ,pity, because it did work - worth trying old engine oil watered down with diesel I suppose
  11. I have used the Brinded quickset basket for several years now and I'm well pleased with it . I prefer 50yd nets ,I got 3, find they're more versatile 2 6z and 1 4z tbh there's not much to choose between them . As a beginner I'd probably go for a 6z tho, altho I'm happy enough with the 4z but (with all due respect) i've had more experience than you ATB
  12. I'm with that, well done to you and your youngsters
  13. Great post and pics, mate, just proves that it takes more than just numbers to make a day . ATB
  14. A toothbrush If this is a serious thread I'd give that vet a miss and find someone who knows what they are talking about. I've heard of this sort of thing before but using a cotton bud just as ridiculous ATB
  15. Go to Agouti for your kit ,mate . He does one that's very good value for money . ATB
  16. Hi mate To be honest I've never used jute because that's the stuff garden centres sell as garden string and it never seems to last very long . The hemp that you can buy now is probably as good as it's going to get and many people don't like it because it has to be dried after use . If you do like hemp try using the treated stuff from Bridport, it's nice and easy to tie and does last longer, I've got some into thier 5th season - no problem . Failing that Bridport sell a poly/linen mix which looks very much like hemp, a bit lighter, performs just as well in the field and doesn't rot.
  17. Well done mate - good pics - a rabbiting Borzoi, don't see that everyday ATB
  18. Had a similar happening as Born Hunter two years ago.The lieing bitch (always a women) claimed to be a close friend of the land owner so I phoned him his answer was "Yes I do know this woman and she's the last person in the world I'd choose as a friend. Tell her ,from me, to fck off". I don't like being rude to women but I enjoyed every moment of that.
  19. Nope don't use a dog, never felt the need . ATB
  20. Eighteen inches isn't too far out mate, mine are about knee hieght and I'm 6' tall .Personally I'd fix the pegs permanently to the nets and run them out of a large game bag its a lot easier that way ATB
  21. Hi mate . first of all if you haven't got someone to show you the ropes get yourself a copy of Long Netting from Peg to Pegby Martin King it's a good book that covers all things netting whether they be short, long or purse . Your stop nets sound like they are set up to be used in the traditional manner using end pins hence the excess of top & bottom running lines . Your running lines are tied to the end of your nets to preserve the bag (amount of slack) and to stop the nets simply falling off the lines . You now have to decide whether you're going to use these nets as traditionals or
