  5. I think it was something to do with its description as a "food supplement" or "food additive" either way I believe and I may be wrong that it wasn't authorised under the description ,which ever, it was being sold as . ATB

  7. Don't worry too much mate, it could be that they just don't like quail.....ferrets can be a bit fussy over thier grub sometimes
  8. If its only a slight nip I'd say they will stop as they get older (they're still only babies at 9 weeks) Don't start slapping them about you'll only make them hand shy and then they will start biting properly and that f5cking hurts Try picking them up after they've eaten they're often less likely to nip with a full belly but don't give up its early days yet they're still very young ATB
  9. That was a great post saxonmaster, glad you got your ferret back. And a sound bit of advice there too
  10. At this time of year ,unless you've had the hobs castrated, they will fight if you put them in together . Even if you have had them done they may fight so its a matter of trial and error......but if they do start fighting don't leave them together they can seriously hurt each other . The other point to watch is with in-season jills.........they can become randy and start dragging the hobs about which in itself isn't too much of a problem but it can set up tensions in a communal group and the result is again fighting . With the hobs castrated I'd wait until they all come out of season (Autumn/
  11. PM me mate 3'6" 10z £1 each
  12. Takes me back......too many bad memories with that one
  13. Thats a generous offer, well done mate
  14. Give it a go mate. Look at the top of the 'longnetting' section and see the sticky 'How to make a square meshed net' gives you all the information you'll need
  15. Can you tie a purse net ? If so a gate net is nothing more than a 12' by 5' purse net without draw cord or rings
  16. Never seen that before.............a drop gate net? ATB
  17. Sounds like you're using the wrong ones....you can buy tiny thin cable ties from Screwfix.....about 6" long, very thin and mega strong.....never had any trouble at all, not one single snag. ATB
  18. Funnily enough mushroom has got it about right, a .22 to the head is the most humane method its also within legislation and a f5cking sight easier than trying to whack one in a sack which is the 'official' method ffs
  19. I ain't being funny mate but if I were you I'd get a copy of Longnetting from peg to peg by Martin King and get yourself a bit clued up on the job ATB
  20. Keep mine in a shed, nice big windows to let plenty of light and air in............especially light , ferrets are photoperiodic .The shed makes life a lot easier when cleaning out the cages in winter too ATB
  21. incidently are you anywhere near Cwmavon? My dad was born there..........Consequently there ain't many people from Essex with a Welsh name like mine
  22. You always get that kind of stuff kurtrog70, take no notice..........remember, ask a stupid question and look stupid for five minutes or don't ask a stupid question and remain stupid for the rest of your life just keep asking mate and ignore those that didn't ATB
  23. Being able to fold them up into a pocket was the gate nets greatest advantage .Many moons ago when I was a kid the local "lad" who always seemed to have a hare or rabbit for sale made his own from what can only be described as 2 ply hemp (in fact spools of it were pinched from a shoe & boot factory ) but it was tremendously strong and wieghed almost nothing, he also made his long nets from the same stuff . He gave me a long net and I wish I still had it, still it was a long time ago .
