  1. Got to say mate it's a bit of an odd question . I usually run out 100yds and the best i've had is sixteen . Can't see why you couldn't do the same with fifty yds. To the best of my knowledge there isn't a maximum safe working load for a longnet. Three rabbits could hit a net at the same time close to each other and fold that section ,between the pegs, over. So without being funny it's a bit like asking how long's a bit of string.
  2. Fashions in purse nets come and go... afew years ago if you suggested using bright yellow nets you would have been laughed at...now they're all the rage. But this spun poly is definitely nice stuff to use and to tie with . I'm an old fashioned fart so I still make and use my hemp nets and plenty of people still buy hemp nets from me
  3. No No my friend, did you not read the first few posts? I was talking about a long netting book that frankley it covered nothing new that has not already been wrote about in other books, mags, videos and to be quite truthfull how much can be video'ed, written about and talked about, after all, long netting is a simple thing to do. (Fu*k me, don't all jump on me again) . How much can be written on a simple subject, and to me this book shows that their is not a lot. Sorry about that I'll get my name changed to "Thicko" But I haven't read the book in question so I can't comment
  4. You certainly are entitled to your opinion SGW, can't argue with that, but if it's Jeff Nicholls book you're talking about I think it will open up molecatching to a lot of people who would otherwise still be struggling
  5. Going on Saturday....haven't been to a CLA for years!!
  6. Well Mr Canning you've certainly stirred up a wasps nest here haven't you ? I won't be signing your petition . It strikes me that the judge was right - you are devious - clearly not devious enough because you got caught !!!! But I do believe you're attempting to use this site, the people on it and very probably others to further you own ends - to support your one man jehad against the RSPB/RSPCA/Police a lost cause if ever I see one . Although if what you say is true you certainly have grounds to feel agrieved that doesn't automatically entitle you to take the good people on this site for a
  7. The Royal College of Vet. Surgeons refused to act against this moron because they feel he did nothing wrong!!!!! another bunch of hypocrits...he deserves to be struck off...if my vet had done something like this I'd vote with my cheque book
  8. Hi I've done the RSPH Level 2 course and several day courses such those and think they are all worth it but as The One said they don't guarantee a job....Lantra is recognised as one of the better trainers and as the class sizes are a max of 6 you should do well
  9. Hi I'm in Norfolk and the wasp season has gone ballistic here !
  10. Hi You need to bring the jill out of season as soon as possible. The short term risks are in infections already mentioned but the long term risks include osteoporosis (can't believe I've spelt that right!) Leaving a jill in season really amounts to neglect not that I'm accusing you of being neglectful but she needs to be done - either a vasectomised hob or the jill jab in 99% of cases a castrated hob just won't show any interest and be prepared for her to possibly come back in later in the year. Another tip is to ensure the vet wieghs her before giving the jill jab - the dose is measured
  11. I've got to admit I do like this site, you meet all sorts!!!!! Don't for fcks sake touch those bats, thier roost or anything to do with them! English Nature will only prosecute if they are sure of success which means if you get to court you're knackered. Like badgers, bats have TOTAL protection which can mean prison. So take a tip from me and leave the little fckers alone!!!!
  12. I joined The Giuld of British Molecatchers a couple months ago and have been very impressed with them. Passed their level 2 accreditation test and I 've had a couple of jobs from the web site and all for free can't be bad. So what do I get from British Trad. Mole Catchers for seventyfive quid!!
  13. Brian Brinded used to make and sell a rig for lift nets - I THINK he still does From what I'm told rabbits weren't happy crossing it unless you left it down for several days but I've never met anyone that I KNOW FOR CERTAIN who has used one Good luck though hope it works out well, keep us posted
  14. Put your ferrets in RaiderBoy it's only for laughs. I judge at a lot of our shows and can promise you that it's NOT fixed but it's true too many people take showing too seriously
  15. Hi Joe D It's well worth investing in one of those cheap compasses if you're new to the game With night time longnetting you really are playing to the wind and if you get it wrong you'll end up with a net full of nothing
  16. Hi all Just a quick intro I'm from Norfolk and seriously into longnetting and ferreting do a bit of course and sea fishing but much prefer trout fishing. Used to do a fair bit of lamping (rabbits) but all my dogs (4) are a bit too old for that now - soon as I get a vacancy I'll be looking to get a working whippet, I also own a JR Patterdale cross for some light duty ratting
