  1. I'm not going to lower the tone any further with yet more cheap inuendo's ........very nice looking dog tho
  2. I agree with roxy, what you're going to have is a slightly heavier whippet in a 3/4 whippet 1/4 beddy mix usually @ 20"-21"-22"
  3. OK teddybear well I think you get the jist of what the lads are trying to say. Stop working the pup and let it rest up to ensure that shoulder comes fit....go back to training and don't start it again for another 6 months...in all liklihood it'll come good if you give it the time....6 months old is far to young to be working or even entered . ATB
  4. If it's got a nylon coating, how thick is it? would you have to double knot it when making a net? how big would these double knots be? how many nets are you going to get from 250gm? those are the questions you've got to ask yourself mate . If I was you I'd go for either spun nylon or spun poly both are pretty inexpensive (you can get spun poly from Agouti nets) ATB
  5. Hi Mate...Not sure what you mean by "Twine polypropylene" spun poly ? I have some REALLY heavy duty poly (not spun) that I suppose you could describe as Twine polypropylene and it makes excellent nets but it's heavy and expensive (don't get that much on a 500gm spool) Spun poly on the other hand is a very good material ATB
  6. I usually set mine about 18" high (not quite knee hieght)I wouldn't set mine at 12" ATB
  7. wasting your time mate, not being funny but at 2 3/4" your on a non-starter ATB
  8. At 2 3/4" I reckon the rabbits could ride thier bikes thro the meshes without touching the sides Longnets don't purse like a purse net used for ferreting, they tangle instead .Thats why you need the bagging (slack net) ATB
  9. 50yd quickset is good start mate, you can always add to it later on . I carry three 50 yarders in the same basket (Brinded)and I'll often use all of them now (night time longnetting) ATB
  10. 2 3/4" would be way to big, mate . Lots of people like 2 1/8" for long nets when they're hand tied and the machine made jobs are 52mm which ain't far off 2 1/8" anyway . But 2 3/4" ATB
  11. Get yourself a copy of Longnetting from peg to peg by Martin King it'll tell you all you need to know..........it's set to become THE reference book on longnetting
  12. You shouldn't be having any problems mate . But the pegs must all go on and come off the rail the same way and the net itself can literally be chucked in the bag between lifting pegs . Actually it's a very good question, it's so easy for those of us that have used traditional longnets to forget how easy quick-sets are....but they do take a little bit of practice ATB
  13. my trying to be a hero and clearing the fence but ended up catching my foot and landing on my face and just looking like a proper tw@t. That's ferretin' for ya Hero to zero in seconds
  14. Steves service is second to none, would fully recommend Advanced Netting ATB
  15. I'd say look around £25 is steep even for a "proven worker" google Ferret Welfare Societies....you can do better than that, mate ATB
  16. PM me mate I'll do you a good deal ATB
  17. Thats spot on there, lack of experience . Take your dog out, give her a few runs, try to pick easy rabbits, don't overwork her, rest her and keep her fit . As you said 100% improvement, just enjoy watching her come on, you'll be on here crowing about that first rabbit in no time :thumbs:Sounds like a decent dog in the making you've got there ATB
  18. Sounds about like it, wouldn't leave any obvious marks or blood stains etc.
  19. Squirrels, magpies & crows carry all sorts of crap and you've been feeding them, I'd freeze & feed mate . ATB
  20. I think you've got it about right mate, they're just trying thier luck . Feckin' teenagers eh? Handle 'em after they've had a good meal, usually less likely to nip with a full belly but don't put 'em down if they do nip, that way they're training you ATB
  21. Simons book is pretty good..its worth looking round the game fairs and having a chat with people on the ferret stands and like he said take a look at 'you tube'but ,really, experience will teach you more. Start off with small buries and work your way up and take your time, treat each outing like a training session...........if your careful you shouldn't go far wrong. ATB
  22. From what you say mate, it sounds like your dogs overmatched by the rabbits. I'd stop working him and biuld up his fitness...........you really need to speak to either Darren Gallagher or Penny Taylor they'll put you right on a running dogs fitness . ATB
  23. Ah pre permission days very hairy.............like last wekend
