  1. Sounds to me mate that someone's got there before you, perhaps with thier longnets Don't look at me, dunno where you live
  2. i was thinking of biding on it an giving it a spray lol Why? Don't you like butterflies?
  3. You can get all sorts of colours mate, have a word with Agouti or Liam Brinded rabbitnetsandaccessories.co.uk ATB
  4. Handy looking dog you got there, mate
  5. Absolutely mate, I started mine on it a couple of months ago and they love it. Like everything else, just don't over do it or they'll get fed up with it and stop eating it ATB
  6. Those deep old warrens can be a pain sometimes mate, rabbits can give the ferrets the runaround for ages, you've got to be really careful(quiet) with your approach and netting up ATB
  7. That does seem like quite a rich diet to me mate, if you can I'd stick to the rabbit and fish...less fat.....or at least cut down a bit if the ferrets wieght is worrying you. Bear in mind they tend to store a bit of fat in the winter anyway and some will store more than others. ATB
  8. Do these plastic ferret boxes suffer from ventilation problems? i.e.do they get damp inside after a day with the ferrets inside one? never had one myself. ATB
  9. Just takes a bit of practise mate you'll be OK
  10. The hedges around here are mostly quite thin and not often on a high bank. Pick your ground first of all ,you don't want to be trying to ferret hedgerows that are ten foot thick and on a six foot high bank. If the hedge is a bit on the thick side don't be frightened to tie back a couple of bushes to make a gap(baler twine)you won't do any damage, they'll spring back into place when you cut the twine. If you think you've got two warrens and you've got the nets, net them both up and go back to the first to start ferreting, if you need to you can tie in your gaps when you do this . Then it's
  11. I always work alone mate.......had that many knobheads come out with me that I just don't bother any more.......you get used to working hedges alone.....just a matter of practise but all the hedges in this neck of the country are very thin. When I was a young 'un the old lad who taught me always worked alone(wrong side of the fence sometimes )but he started taking me when he realised I wasn't the average dickhead found hanging round street corners ATB
  12. Hi Mate, No you should be OK...it's got to be one shoit of a council to object to ferrets unless they recieve complaints from other tenants (smell??) As for the cages , they're wooden temporary structures so unless you go over board and build something the size of Big Ben you shouldn't have any probs ATB
  13. not the best bag by far but at least i came home with a bunny and my fert thanks for looking That's the way mate, you don't want to take them all at once........be nothing left for next time
  14. Well done crobinc840.........I bloody hate to see ferrets mistreated
  15. Yep, had exactly the same. Could be the scent thing if the wind was blowing into the bury or it could be the wind blowing across the holes upsetting the rabbits..a bit like blowing across the top of a bottle?? either way I think scent conditions has got a lot to do with it
  16. [ and a nice wee red flag on it. LOL They're great them flags, if you use them you'll never..........err leave a net behind
  17. Yep. I've only just managed to uncross my fingers .How come I never seem to come across those lovely clean banks with neat little bunches of a dozen or so holes that are in all the books ? Thought that was just me
  18. Every session is good practise mate, don't worry about numbers it never works ATB
  19. It could have gone very wrong In fact, it probably should have
  20. [ Thanks for all your advise. Don't know what you meant by clever sales pitch ?! Lou x Hi Lou "clever sales pitch" don't do it this way or that way,do it my way it only costs?? see what I mean? put the frighteners on and then sell a 'safe' alternative Ask a double glazing salesman when his next price increase is due....always without fail it'll be next week :D
  21. That's the way, mate, treat these early sessions as on the job training for both you and your ferrets. Forget the numbers game , going home with all your ferrets and two rabbits is good ATB
  22. Some (many) years ago these plastic pipe ferret boxes were all the rage. They were made from large diameter drain pipe so were plenty roomy enough but being plastic (or some such) I think ventilation/condensation was a problem
  23. Is that a complete kitten food? I feed mine a complete cat food because they prefer it to complete ferret ATB Yes it's complete, it has 35% protein and 12% oils and fats almost the exact same ingredients in ferret food. The big difference is the ferret food is £3+ and the kitten food is 77P Sounds good to me, I'll give it a look
  24. Me too....If you've got a good dog keep you mouth shut or some barsteward is bound to try to steal it
